First corn!
We weren't planning on getting a snake when we went to the Show Me Snakes reptile expo yesterday, I swear we weren't! It's just that my fiancee has been wanting a snake of her own, but she's still a little nervous around my ball python, and corns had come up as a possibility, and I said "come to the show and we can look at some", and then she saw this little guy and fell in love...

He's a tessera and she has named him Tezzeret. He's an August 2015 and he pooped on after we took him home. My fiancee is already totally in love regardless, and I kind of am too.
He does have a bit of nose rub from his container, poor little guy. I'm assuming we can expect that to resolve on its own?

Congrats on the pickup, he's a little beauty! As for the nose rub, it should improve with every shed as long as he stops the behavior.

Congrats on your first corn, she's a beauty. I recently brought two corns home from a local reptile show as well, but planned on only bringing one home. But, my girlfriend and I found two from the same breeder that we couldn't decide between. Fortunately, I was prepared at home and instead of deciding between the two, both came home. My girlfriend tends to still be a bit shy around my BP, but adores my 4 foot King. She tends to prefer the more slender bodies of colubrids, and colubrids were the snakes I fell in love with as a kid, so it was a win-win!!
Congrats on your new beauty, enjoy!

Congrats on your pretty little Corn.
I bet it wont be long before your fiancée is handling the two snakes more than you! :)

I think that's why Shira felt more easy with a corn than a python-- slender and less squeezy. We're already counting down the days until we can start handling him again, thank you~!

Thank you! I would love it if that were the case, but I will be happy if she can work with Tezzeret with confidence. :) He is going to be her snake, after all.

Yup, the slender bodies and smaller heads are what my girl likes about the colubrids. She's a bit squeamish about the girth of the BP body and the "scary" intimidating head. She's getting more comfortable with the BP as time progresses, but the King is and always will be her favorite.

Congrats on the very pretty new corn. Please keep the pics coming. I think Tesseras are my favorite corns followed closely by the Okeetees.

Funny thing is my girl actually loves BP heads, she thinks they're super cute and her nickname for my Yigg is Puppymouth. But she is a bit worried about what would happen if he were to get startled or scared enough to tag her. He intimidates her a little. She's getting better with him too, at least but I'm excited for her to have a snake of her own that she feels totally comfortable with! (Except for the feeding part. I still have to do the feeding part.)

Thank you so much! I'd be happy to :D We saw several Okeetees at the show as well and they are QUITE handsome little beasts, that's for sure!

And speaking of feeding, just a little update that he took a 7g mouse hopper successfully for us last night! It was a very satisfying little bump in his middle.

Another successful feed tonight, and a poo as well! We're counting down the days to when we can start handling him :D

He could hide in the two hides we put in his tank, but where he is hiding is in the most inaccessible prong of his resin tree decoration.
(Time to re-evaluate those hides for suitability, methinks.)

Been seeing him out and about a little bit more! We're still holding off handling, but it's nice to be able to see his cute little faaaaace.

Re: First corn!
Beautiful animal. I recently picked up an Albino corn for a nice price. She is such a puppy dog! And feeds very well. Congrats on your new family member :snake:

Little bit of an update: Tezzerret is eating and growing, and recently completed a fantastic shed! He'd been growing pretty slowly, but I think I might be underfeeding him a little, so I'm going to give him some slightly larger prey items and see what that does. Here's a picture of the little guy from yesterday!
