    Piebald vs clown?
Which is favourite out of the two and which one do you think can make the best combos?

Both and Both which is why I only work with both Pieds and Clowns and a few select of their combos :gj:

For me, clown all the way. But I do understand the beauty of the pied.

You have to pick what YOU like best not what everyone likes best, because YOU and only YOU will have to care and work with those animals.

Pieds have grown on me over time. So for my personal preference, it's Pieds. But like Deborah said, you gotta pick what you like.

I think both of those morphs are stunning with a huge "wow" factor !!

That said, I like the "mid white" pieds best, esp. when the color/white is somewhat evenly distributed, so you get a ton of contrast.

The others are right though, don't just look to the future about which makes the best combos, etc. It will be your animal to care for, to look at, for many years. Choose what you find the most appealing :)
Sometimes its a particular animal that catches your fancy, so look through all the pictures of the available animals, you might like one or the other.

I like both pied's and clowns. I like them so much I'm working on mixing the two. It's going to take me some time to do it. However I plan to make pastel pied clown's. I think they look so cool.

I'm hoping for pastel enchi pied clowns a couple years down the road

Both are wicked morphs. I'm a fan of Pied myself but you sure can inject some badass into your program with Clown.

exactly. besides, in the end, you'll probably have both! Then you can get to work on the clown/pied combo. my two favorite recessives, I couldn't choose one over the other.

Clown is my "One to own" eventually.
I have a super low white pied but its never was a need to have.

i can get a male clown ball python for £295 or a low white pied for £325 or a medium white from a re homing site for £250. which one is the best deal as i dont know much about pricing these kind of snakes.

I also really like and plan to work with both. Since they both recessive, you can get double hets for a relatively inexpensive price and play around with what you like!

I am trying to get started working towards both. I haven't decided on a favorite but maybe a couple years from now, I will be able to give an answer. In the meantime I am just excited about the journey and the possibilities.

This right here is my goal in 5 or so years. Pastel clown pied ball python plus prolly be pretty cool to throw in some enchi but that's pushing the statistics haha

I'm going to go against the grain here and say clown. It seems like that is the unpopular opinion but someone has to go against the grain XD

I love single gene clowns just the way they are and a lot of the combos are even better. When it comes to pied sure some of the combos are great, I personally love banana yellowbelly pieds, and that busy pattern is really wicked but the patches of white just aren't appealing to me at all. Since, as far as I know, the only way to consistently remove, or at least heavily reduce, the white is adding super enchi I probably won't end up working with pieds. It just doesn't make sense for me to work with a gene, especially a recessive gene, that needs to be paired with a super for it to appeal to me.

Only you can answer which one you think makes the best combos. My answer would be clown because of the pied's white patches but you might love the contrast that creates.

As I posted earlier I am just beginning to work both of these into my plans. I was going to wait but since this thread keeps popping up to the top and I'm pretty excited, I guess I'll share. I am soon to be the proud owner of a couple of beauties produced by our very own Deborah of Stewart Reptiles. The first is a 0.1 Hypo 50% het Pied and the other is a 1.0 Enchi 100% Dhet Clown/Hypo. The are both really nice looking examples of the base morphs themselves, but with even more exciting stuff hiding just beneath the surface. Can't wait to grow them up and unlock their potential. We've all seen some of the gorgeous animals Deborah has produced.

    Thanks Deborah!
