She looks pretty good right now. Good amount of fat, could use a little more muscle though. Are you sure your scale is functioning right? A few weeks isn't enough to loose 1000g and if she really was 2000 before she would have to have been enormously obese before

How can I help her with the muscle? And it was at the vets, I didn't get the correct number but I saw it was like 1000 and something.

I find snakes fed a bit irregularly and offered climbing options tend to be a lot more muscular than those not. Irregular feeding especially helps. How often is she fed?

Once a week, she eats large rats. And she used to have stuff to climb on but she constantly knocked things over, irritated her scales and caused herself a bruise before. I took everything out of her tank except her hides in fear of her really hurting herself

I think your scale is off, there's no way a snake will fall from 2000 grams to 1000 grams unless you starve it for a whole year LOL. That's a nice looking snake, nice size too. Looks real healthy. To me it looks like it's at least 1500 grams, better weigh it again... I tend to over feed my snakes because I raise my own rodents and have plenty of food to go around, so my snakes are a lot fatter than that one.

Weekly is too much and so are large rats. A medium once every two weeks, give or take a few days, is plenty for a snake that size and for the rest of her life. Most ball pythons are overfed. And I would definitely recommend getting perches or branches that can be fixed in or are heavy enough she can't move them. They enjoy climbing and is very good for their muscles but they do tend to knock things over. Of course you don't have to offer things to climb if you don't think you'll be able to safely, but it would be good for her

I absolutely want to find something suitable for her!! It's just so difficult cause she's incredibly destructive. She's the only snake of mine that's so crazy at night with trashing her tank... I have one more bp(male), corn snake and Kenyan sand boa, no idea why she's so crazy. Thanks! I'll take that into consideration.

Personally I'd increase her food intake and get a little more weight on her. I like to keep my ball pythons a little over weight, that way if they decide to fast for months at a time they can easily handle it. My normal in the photos above refused a rat tonight, I'm thinking she may be ready to go on a fast, and she is plenty fat enough for me not to be worried for at least a couple months.

One of the main reasons ball pythons even fast in the first place is because of overfeeding. I've never had a ball python go on a fast longer than a month since I started feeding every other week, or even sometimes three. Before that they'd sometimes fast for months at a time. And even with a 2-3 week schedule I have a 5 foot, 2000 gram, 3 year old male

This is another members (Sauzo) pvc jungle gym he made - I'm building one for each of my enclosures as well to help them get a little exercise because the wood I bought at the pet store just kept growing mold. PVC doesn't mold and I can tailor it to my design.

I don't think that snake looks that bad at all. I think as a community we are so used to seeing pics of uber fat snakes that anything that doesn't look fat is considered underfed or underweight. As far as the weight loss, when she starts eating again she will be back where she needs to be.
