Did Your Stubborn Male Turn Around?
I have this Lesser Banana male (about 2.5 years old) who just isn't interested in breeding. This is the second season he didn't want to lock with any of my girls. For those who have had the same problems, did your males eventually come through? If so, how long did it take?

I know it's unlikely with the banana, but are you positive it's a male?

Have you tried throwing another male's shed in with the female to spark the your male's competiveness?

Yes I have probed him before.

Was in the same boat as you with my banana till last pairing. Had already tried putting with another male to stimulate without success.

Last week he got active as soot as I put him in and started slithering all over the female. Even found them with the tail intertwined, although I'm not sure it was a lock.

Raising the humidity a few hours before introduction also seems to help.

Success! Putting shed from a different male in with the female seemed to do the trick - we got a lock this week, his first ever.

FWIW the male is a 2011 model.

    Can you explain the process?

Did you put the shed in while both snakes were in the tub or did you take the shed out and then place the female in?

    Thanks.

I put the shed in with her the day before I put the male in. The timing wasn't planned, another male just happened to shed that day.

My male locked once, and then showed zero interest the next two times I paired them... Then I tried putting the female into HIS tub instead, and he got going right away! I did the same thing the next pairing schedule, and he locked in less than a day again. No idea if that's the reason or just a coincidence, but it did the trick.

He just needed the home field advantage!

I had a male that wouldn't lock females until he got over a kilo. He's a good breeder now.

That hurts my eyes. No luck on the shed from another male :(

You might try putting your male with another male for about 10 minutes, then in with the female.

Have you tried misting the pair after putting them together ?

Re: Did Your Stubborn Male Turn Around?
Maybe time out the pairing during a storm or weather shift. We're having a storm right now that makes me want to put my male with a female. I've times it so that I put my make banana in the females tub around a storm or weather shift and he has locked every time but the first pairing when the weather was calm. I don't know if that's what had an effect but it sure didn't hurt and he's locked the last three times. But I just pulled him out Sunday from one and my other female needs to put on a bit more weight. I'm saving her for next season since she's such a finicky eater. And I've only got the 2 females, for now.
