    Chomper - Pacman Frog
    - Honey, let's go to reptile expo, we need to buy mices for our snakes, but don't worry, we will not buy any animals as I only need three snakes for breeding, and we don't have place for new lizards.
*half hour later after we bought snake food we are looking around what people are having on their tables*
    - Look, on few tables there are these frogs you always wanted, maybe you want early Christamas present?
    - YES. Well, that's the story of Chomper, she/he is a small Pacman Frog that will be bigger than my hand in future https://www.facebook.com/images/emoj.../1/16/2764.png<3 There was also a lovely mint brother/sister but since it was smaller the breeder told us that it would be better to buy another one (I'm really glad that there are still good people that will tell you that the animal you want may be a little problematic!)

Nice little guy now make sure to provide a proper environment for it, ideally you want to use DAMP coco coir or DAMP sphagnum moss, and I mean DAMP, those frogs are ambush predators that bury themselves in the ground so paper towel is not it.

Their need is simple very damp substrate, no water dish and proper temps. :gj:

Thank you all! Yes, the common name is Pacman Frog, there are few subspecies the species name is Ceratophrys, our boy (for now I'm going with a boy since it's too young to know the gender) is Ceratophrys cranwelli. And I waited a long time to name one of our pets "Chomper", it seemed perfect for this frog.

Deborah, yes, I know, he'll have a nice naturalistic tub after the acclimation time ends, but since he's new I want to make sure he eats and poops fine. And his breeder was keeping all his babies on paper towels so I did not wanted to stress the poor frog with totally new substrate that he doesn't know. After he'll eat few time and we make sure he's good we will make his home nicely and safely for him :)

If he's like any other Pacman Frog I've ever met he eats anything that fits in his mouth. ;)

He's such a cutie! I love these guys.

    Thanks!

Sandi1961, like piedlover79 said they eat practically anything! In nature they eat rodents (adult rats are often they food too), worms, fish, other reptiles... This little guy was fed pinky mices in his breeder home as pinkies are the best for growing babies since they are great with all the "bones" etc. (or thats what he said). I will try to fed him today so will let you all know how it went!

tttaylorrr, adults are rather big, males are around 2,5 to 4inches lenght, while females are from 4 to 7inches.

I love little Jabba frogs!! I had a couple when I was a kid and they are awesome.

They eat anything. I used to feed mine little guppies and crickets when he was a baby. Then he moved on to gold fish, large crickets and mice. They eat anything they can fit in their mouths lol.

Be careful though as they are like little bulldogs. Once they grab something, they don't like to let go. One of mine grabbed my finger once and hung like a bulldog. He started croaking too and swelled himself up. I couldn't stop laughing haha. It was like he was celebrating this HUGE dinner he just caught. He finally let go and then re-dug himself into his substrate.

Mine got a little bigger than a teacup plate/saucer.

And grats. That is one cute little guy.

Thanks! Sauzo, since you had them can you tell me how did you fed your little ones? The breeder told us that he was just rubbing the pinkies on these guys mouths and after few seconds they were opening them enough to slid some of the pinky inside (and from there the instinct kicked off and they were eating themselves). I tried it today but our Chomper just froze in place... The pinky was rather big, so I'll try to give only the head in the evening, maybe it'll work.
We also gave him a little roach yesterday but he was totally uninterested in it.

And yeah, I know that after moving they can not eat for a few days, but after talking with the breeder that claimed they should eat offhand I'm curious what I'm doing wrong.

Woo-Hoo, he ate one mealworm! I know it's not the healthiest of food but we just wanted to make sure that he in fact is teached to eat by himself (and not only by partially force-feeding like in his breeder method). Since one of our beardies was scared to death by fast roaches for a long time (we now teached her that it's food) I thought that maybe this poor frog was just scared too. So now I know that he will eat, just need to teach him the same lesson our beardie girl was taking!
