    Sentec Cage?
Okay, instead of custom building our enclosure we plan on buying this one. Sentecreptilecages.com is the sticker on the side. I plan on putting a 6 ft. Boa in it, and I am trying to figure out the best and safest ways to possibly heat it without causing a fire, because obviously that would suck. This one measures 8' x 30" x 24"

I would imagine RHP or flexwatt would work. First and foremost though, that cage needs a serious bleach and scrub job like no one's business lol.

Can i put flexwatt inside? I have 0 experience with heat tape. How much of the enclosure should the RHP take up? That's what I am trying to figure out because heat tape with a rheostat and/ or an RHP with a rheostat both sound great but they are both heat sources I am not familiar with. Can anybody link sources wherw I can find info and/or affordable pricing? I have 13 terrariums without addi by this one to the mix.

Heat tape goes on the outside on the bottom of the cage. Radiant heat panel goes inside on the roof of the cage. Both of them, you want a good t-stat to run them, not a rheostat. You can use one in a pinch but I sure wouldn't trust one, especially on flexwatt as that can be a fire hazard. I run all my cages with flexwatt and have them stacked with no air gap but I also have Herpstats running everything so they keep a constant temp. A rheostat is just set at a certain voltage but if there is no air flow on the flexwatt, it will just get hotter and hotter and hotter since the voltage is not being turned down, it is just being kept at a single voltage regardless of the temp.

For RHPs, check out Pro Products. That's what I use for my Constrictor NW cage. For my Ap cages, I just use the flexwatt from them. You can check out Bean Farm or Reptile Basics for flexwatt. They will crimp it for you if you buy the mats and tell them to.

Here are 3 of my cages all stacked and in between each one is flexwatt. On top you can see 2 herpstats, 1 redline and 1 normal. I also got another redline and normal which will be switched around after I get new cages so they match lol.

I knew the RHP went inside and idk why i said rheo I meant thermostat lol. I was just worried the bottom of the enclosure may be too thick for the heat tape's heat the penetrate the bottom.

Those are so pretty. I wish I could switch from having all of my displays and terrariums to something more like yours. Saldy, I am a very small person and that stack is as tall as I am.

Not sure if flexwatt will heat the bottom of the cage as I know nothing about Sentec cages. I would probably just go with a RHP personally in that cage.

And thanks. Those are my T10s. I just ordered a stand for them as right now they are too tall for me too lol. I have to use a chair to clean out the top cage. The stand is 8" tall so it will drop the cages down quite a bit. Tall enough so I'm not laying on the floor to clean the bottom cage but low enough I can clean the top cage without a chair haha.

I don't think sentec is making cages anymore. apcages.com for the ones like Sauzo has. I have two of the T8 model and love them. AP gets my vote for sure

if you are talking about sauzo's t-10's just type in "animal plastics" into Google and their you go if you have any questions about anything on that website just give them a call or email.... the customer service is top notch and I personally love their cages I have two t-8's right now about to order my third one.

as for heating that used cage (after a serious scrub down lol) I would recommend a radiant heat panel hooked to a t-stat I use reptile basics rhp you can also give them a call or email with the dimensions and he will tell you what size will work best for your needs iv also heard good things about pro products heat panels but I have never used them before.... hope this helps and if you already knew any this information sorry for the rambling lol

Yeah like jmcrook said, Sentec has been gone a long time. The cages I showed are Animal Plastics T10 cages.

It looks pretty rough. That inside is seriously stained and I cant imagine how it smells lol. Check out Animal Plastics and compare the prices of their cages vs what the guy wants for that Sentec cage. I mean 8' is nice and it does look like it has an aluminum cross bar on the top center to help with sagging as well as an aluminum header but I would definitely make sure the door closes easily and see if it has sag in the center. Me personally, I don't trust any cage 4' or longer with no center brace. I have a Constrictor NW aka Pro-Line cage 48x23x14 and its 4 years old and it sags. Figment has one too and his sags as well after 4 years. His I guess is bad enough to cause problems with closing the door. Mine isn't that bad but you can easily see the sag just by the gap between the acrylic door and top header.

Personally I'd rather go with a large tub system. I wanted to get one big tub for my ARS-7030 rack but apparently ARS doesn't make them anymore. Freedom breeder does though, probably not as high end as an ARS rack, but I'm thinking I may go that route. A tub is easier to clean and keeps the snake down in the tub better than a front opening enclosure. I've seen people have to crawl into those front opening enclosures to clean them, looks like a nasty job. With a tub you can slide it out and clean it from above, seems much easier to me. Here's a Freedom Breeder rack I'm considering, maybe just a level or two for my retic:

    Re: Sentec Cage?
The dude hadn't cleaned it when he posted the pictures, but he says he is going to clean it. We agreed upon $375 assuming the door opens and closes properly. Obviously, since I don't trust him to clean it well enough I will also clean and sterilize everything. I am also driving an hour or so to go pick it up. Honestly, if I could buy something that size for the same price I would.

I like rhps and if I'm not mistaken you'd probably need a 120 watt depending on your ambient temp

Just checked reptile basics and it says 160 watt. But then again depends on the temps in your room.

The bottom of the page talks about proper rhp sizes for your enclosure. You could also call pro products

Actually higher end than ARS, Freedom breeder has been in business much longer than ARS and their new line is far superior than any similar rack on the market. Racks are made of stainless steel they will never rust, not the case with ARS that still uses powder coated racks that will rust over time.

Getting a vision cage used from the rescue instead for about $75 cheaper than the guy with the sentec.

Definitely check the Vision cage for sag if you its 6'+. I have talked to a lot of people who have them and they say they sag bad. Also if you try and stack them, the bottom cage sliding door will bind and be a bear to slide open and close. Also i'm going to say you are going to need to cover a lot of the vent holes and light cutouts to hold in humidity as it seems Vision really loves to make more vents than needed. Otherwise, good going.

    Re: Sentec Cage?
The cage is only 5ft and the extra vents have been taken care of. Getting it from an awesome rescue. Not going to stack it. I have checked it out and it's damn near new I just have to go get it Saturday so I can get it all perfect. Going to run a couple cycles to make sure temps and humidity are spot on.
