Retic Cage Utopia.

I decided Wallace was ready for his next cage. This is only a stepping stone move bit he is ready. This Pro-Line, (Top) has house a boa and a royal. The royal will go back into it after I provide Wallace with his final cage. That will end up being 6 feet wide by 30 inches deep and at least 2 feet tall.

For now he is digging his 48" x 24" x 14" with perches and lots of fun.

The boa constrictor is in the bottom cage, but because the setup looks so phenomenal I had to capture it too.

I have no doubt he will use those perches and behave differently than he would if he was given a flat, pure terrestrial setup.

Awesome setup

Gorgeous enclosures Gio! How far from the RHP are the perches installed in the top cage? It's got 2" of height on my T8s but I might be able to fashion some climbing apparatus(es) of some sort in there for the time being. Just don't want them too close to the panel and risk the possibility of a burn situation. What are the perches made from? PVC and rod hangers with bendable vines around them?

Lots of typos in my first thread LOL!

I'd say there is about 4 inches of space between the panel and the perches. I have a hid below it that is within 3 inches. This worked great for the boa until he started getting thick and tall. I'd say in a 12" cage you be good with 7 inches off the floor.

I can pop these things out and back in really fast. I need to for cleaning and removal of some items. Wallace is all over the place right now I knew he'd love this stuff once out of quarantine.

Your SD is still a nice lean, agile snake and I'd bet she'd be an amazing animal to watch on perches!

Yeah, she's super lean and athletic. Climbing will definitely giver her some mental and physical stimulation. Do you imagine they'd be a bit trickier to pull out of a T8 with the center support at the front of the cage? Probably not too bad but a little trickier seeing as you have swing down doors with no obstruction I bet they're a breeze to deal with in your cages.

Also, the inside height of a T8 is about 10.5" (12" minus 1/2" thickness of the top and bottom panels) and then subtract another inch for the RHP is a pretty short 9.5" height. I could maybe get 5" off the floor under the panel and have clearance above her hide or put it more towards the back of the cage. I'll draw up some to scale models and start playing Tetris with them lol

Super awesome set ups!

Where did you get those perches? Would they work in a 6' enclosure? I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to offer climbing opportunities in my 6-footers. I was going to do a regular shelf like you would with a book shelf but then got worried about the metal rusting...I also haven't been able to find driftwood or branches large enough for the space that aren't ridiculously expensive (and I'm worried about mold growing where it's touching the damp EcoEarth). :/

Those are 4 footers, but common closet dowels can span 6 feet. I'll also cut and use real tree branches as I've done in my other enclosures.

It will be more challenging when I get the 6 footer but I'm confident I'll have something nice.

I don't see a problem with getting her out.

Occasionally I give up on my boa even with the single drop door.

Eventually they come to the floor unless they are totally arboreal.

lol I was talking about removing the perches in a T8. Phyllis is tricky to get out if she's wrapped around anything in the cage. As I'm drawing up plans for perches in my T8s it would definitely be tight on space. I could go 5", maybe 6" off the floor but under the RHP that leaves only 3.5"-4" between perch and heat panel. How close are the perches in your 14" high pro line?

I have River in a T12 and they have those front pieces that split the front i to 2 small windows and I have no problems getting River out, and she's over 7'. Granted, all I have is two hides and a fake plant and nothing extravagant but she comes out easy, the front piece doesn't hinder me at all.

Lol this went through the same time as my reply. In that case, yes, it could be difficult but you should be able to still get them in and out.

If you aren't set on the natural look, go with PVC piping. They are easy to clean, easy to cut and can be made into any design. I use them for Allie as she loves her perches. And they are also free standing if you make them like a jungle gym.

Same here, my cages are pretty plain but its easy to take anyone out and i'm using T10s. Even if the snakes go up on their shelves, its easy to slide them right off.
