Pastel Enchi vs. Orange Dream Yellowbelly.
So when I look at my Pastel Enchi by himself and then look at my OD YB by herself, they seem to be very similar. ... and then I put them together and whoa!! That orange Dream gene really is amazing. Look at the shine and brightness. And of course she came from Eric Alan.

And a bonus pic of the OD YB. My son named her Dory. I can dig it. :)

Can't wait to see the offspring these two produce together.

That OD yellow belly is gorgeous!

    Assuming Monty is what he I bought him as if you produce the four gene animal it'll look kinda like this;

So he's supposed to be Pastel Enchi OD and YB? .. looks a little different than the ones I've seen.

    Thanks for the compliments! :)

That's what I bought him as...

I'm pretty convinced I can see the enchi and yellowbelly in him and there's definitely something else going on on top of that. He does look a little odd but can't really put my finger on it. Do you have any ideas?

The only idea I've been able to come up with is maybe he's super pastel instead of pastel OD unless maybe he's the five gene animal. I'm really not sure... Either way he's locked up to my girl so assuming she goes again this year I'll be able to judge from the babies.

Do you have any pics of the four gene combo you saw?

Here ya go. From morph market

It says possible super Pastel but I don't think it is based off the way the head stamp looks.

Monty took a pretty hefty chunk out of my wallet lol, he came from a reputable breeder up here in Canada so I'm not too concerned. What I'm seeing looking at that animal is a really high enchi expression without much yellowbelly influence on the pattern. I think Monty either has lower enchi expression, stronger yellow belly expression or maybe isn't even an enchi at all. Although he has the characteristic eye pinch going on but maybe that's just a coincidence.

I'm really not sure how to explain the color difference between them. I'm pretty sure the pairing that produced Monty was pastel OD * pastel enchi YB so there is a chance he's a super pastel instead of pastel OD or maybe even super pastel OD. It could also be a line bred thing... I'm thinking I may have been a little over my head starting with a four gene male. It's really confusing but I just try not to think about it. With any luck I'll know for sure in like 6 months.

Looks a lot like a normal firefly in my opinion. Granted, yours is an adult size, so I really am not sure.

If that's the case I'll have to talk with the breeder... that'll make distinguishing the babies a lot more complicated lol As far as I can recall there was no fire in the parents but maybe I'm not remembering correctly.

Maybe its the lighting in your picture but I don't see it. I'm going to trust what he was sold as until proven otherwise by his babies. He was sold by someone who's been at every expo I've been to in the past ten years, I have faith in the breeder who sold him to me.

Just before we put this to rest I'm gonna show you the head pinch (or at least what I think is the head pinch) that I've heard is pretty much what everyone uses to identify enchi. It could be an anomaly or I could be misidentifying it but this is it.

Oh and also I'm really sorry for hijacking your thread... I'll shut up now

Edit: Actually looking at it now I don't know if there's enough light blushing for him to be super pastel... this is why I don't like thinking about it haha

Really nice snakes all around guys! Going to try to get some decent pics of my Pastel Yellowbelly as soon as she sheds. The CG is in blue now too. I'll have lots of shiny soon!
