    Decisions, Decisions
Okay, so I was speaking to a person on the phone about an animal, he had originally wanted $650 + shipping, but after a few weeks he went down to $550 shipped. So I called the guy on the phone and he confirmed $550 shipped fedex priority overnight. So $550 shipped is $550 shipped. Anyways I'm checking my card statements as I do on the 1st of every month and I see he charged me $586.50. Now I'm not really upset about the $36.50 as it's not going to break the bank, however this wasn't the agreed upon price. When I hear a price shipped, that's the total price, no fees, taxes or whatever. Now I'm in Louisiana and he's in Florida so sales tax wouldn't even apply to me, but even if it did, he should of said $550 shipped plus tax. So I'm going to reach out to him tomorrow and seek either a $36.50 refund, or I'm going to ask for a full refund and shop elsewhere. If he says no to both of those then I'll just file a dispute with my card company because I didn't authorize and $586.50 payment, so regardless I'm getting my money back.

My question is, when you're told a price shipped, or you tell somebody a price shipped, that's the actual total price, right? In 13 years of ordering stuff online I've never had this happen to me, especially with animals and I order from places all over. He's a known guy in the community, so that's what gets me, and hopefully there's just a misunderstanding with what he charged me, maybe by default he charged tax, I dunno.

    EDIT:
I also purposely left out who I'm dealing with as I want to make sure before I mention his name. I just want other peoples opinions on this.

Price shipped has always been the total for every snake I've bought online. The extra $36.50 shouldn't be there.

If you were told $550 shipped, then its $550 shipped. Call the guy or send him a message asking why the $36.50 extra and obviously a credit back. Also your state might be one that gets charged tax even from out of state transactions. I believe California is like that too as well as a few other states.

It's not. I just ordered a rat snake last month from Florida as well and from a well known business GourmentRodents and they didn't charge me any additional fees or taxes, and they would of if they were required to. I also have ordered from Ben Siegel in the past and was never charged any additional fees.

No idea then. Maybe he just bent you over for $36.50 then lol. Good luck.

LOL. I'm just hoping it's an honest mistake but I'm highly annoyed at the moment. It's not even about the extra $36.50. I operate on the matter of principle. I've walked away from buying a new ATV because I was told a price out the door, then when I got there it was $5 more. If I'm told $550 shipped, and then they come back and tell me $550.01 I would decline on the matter it's not the agreed upon price.

Well, I don't see how it would be an "honest" mistake as hitting the 5-5-0 buttons is pretty far from hitting 5-8-6-.-5-0. Not to say he did it on purpose as I don't even know the guy but just saying all those number combos just don't add up lol.

And I understand the principle of the issue. I guess i'm just a little more forgiving on it if it's only a couple dollars. But for $37, I would be pretty annoyed too.

LOL. What I meant by an honest mistake and I don't even know if it's possible as I've never taken credit cards over the phone, so I have 0 experience with the apps and what not. It could of been set to automatically charge sales tax? I don't know. That's the only mistake I could see happening if that's even possible?

    $550 + 6.69% = $586.50

It's a stand-up move on your part to not blow him up here by posting his name and to only ask opions as to what course of action to take.

I agree with contacting him like you mentioned and if, in fact, the extra $$ was a simple oversight, refund and an apology by him...if not and it's an added charge, tell him you're going to dispute the charge through your credit card company.

Hopefully the issue is simple and doesn't cause too much friction.

Well I kind of texted him about midnight his time, and he responded back. It was a simple oversight as I thought. The machine is registered in FL so it automatically charged sales tax. He thought he mentioned it to me, so we're good. I'm happy now.

Now it's time to get back to filling out my paperwork for my venomous permit. Having to provide documentation of 1000 hours.

:gj: Hey that's great news. Glad it worked out for you and we didn't have to hear about a member defrauding people.

Good luck with your permit :O I'm cautious about my bp tagging me (moreso the damage to the snake and not me), let alone something with venom LOL

Oh they're not a member here, I don't think anyways. I found their ad on kingsnake and did some research on him through fauna BOI.

Thanks. I have 22-23 years of catching native venomous(Copperheads & Cottonmouths), but I didn't start documenting until 2014 when I first became interesting in working with venomous, even though I waited off, I still went and helped a friend who has medical issues every week. So between 2014 and now, mostly 2014, as I didn't do much in 2015/2016 I have over 1200 hours documented. Now if you factor in since I was a kid, it's probably more like 5,000+. Also I think the permit is good for snakes over 8 ft, as it used to be 12 ft.

Then once I'm approved for my permit, I'll start ordering all my supplies hooks/tongs and what not so I can give my friend his back lol.
