    Tis the season...
So, my dual sired clutch plans seem to be taking all sorts of positive advances. Female is in shed but was still receptive. I think this is going to be her pre-lay shed. Keep you posted. https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...age_549872.jpg

Yes thanks cletus. Also paired her with my 1.0 pastel pied to try and get 50/ 50 regular pieds and pastel pieds. First time trying this.

Yeah thank you Sandi! They are all proven breeders. They have been paired over the past 4 or 5 months pretty regularly.

Yay!! Let's celebrate!! Free pieds for everyone. just message Al for your spot on the list!! Lol J/K> Grats man. You know I want to start breeding snakes just for the excitement of seeing what comes out of the eggs but I am no where near experienced enough for that stuff lol. I'll just have to live through you for it :D

Hey, i did that once before. Well not free but almost! I will have a list lol. You have more than enough experience Sau, come on. Just do it! The more i study genetics the more confused i get and i have been breeding for years. That Dottie is gorgeous and i can't wait for her to drop some calcium balls. Heh heh. :)

Lol yeah, it would be fun but it seems like a lot of work. Plus i'm not allowed to get any more snakes....for now mwahaha. I'm already planning for a super sexy Pucallpa or Iquitos Peruvian BCC end of next summer or fall when the babies start going up for sale :D Might get a Suriname too if I find one that really catches me. I want a BCC to round out my collection....well round out for now, still way too many snakes on the list haha.

And yeah I love Dottie. Not sure whats up with her though. She usually fasts during winter but she is following my retic and eating every 5 days or so and she is really active at night. During the day, she is her slug self and sleeping in one of the hides but come night, she is cruising lol.

That is so cool Sau! Cloud the boa who is a member here is a good resource for all the boas that you named. Try and reach out to him with any questions or recommendations. Thanks again.

Yeah think she has all BCI, garter snakes, BRBs, and one mainland retic. I know a few people to talk to about getting a BCC like Vin Russo, Joel Diaz, Tom McCarthy, Star Shaffer although she does a lot of Surinames I think, not sure if she does Peruvians and i'm sure someone else I forgot lol. I mostly just need to get an empty cage available which wont be available until probably summer anyways. I actually don't know anyone here who owns a BCC much less an Iquitos or Pucallpa.

Its not a huge issue atm as I got lots of time left. Need to first get my 2 BCI girls and my retic into AP T25s and also got to wait until around summer/fall before i'll start seeing them going up for sale. And this is all assuming I even get the ok for another snake lol.

Cool. Got it! Vin Russo is the president of my herpetological society here in N.Y. He is very knowledgeable and is always willing to help. I see him about once a month at the meetings.

    Congrats on the successful lock!

If that is a pre-lay shed, she wouldn't normally be receptive to locking with a male (and there would be no reason to pair her), as she would have already ovulated. In my experience, a shedding female is usually a very receptive female. I think that's what's going on here.

Good luck with this pair, Albert! :gj:

Thanks Eric, I was actually on the fence about the ovulation and I had asked about opinions in another thread on the possibility of the possible ovulation. VMS herpetoculture says if unsure it can't hurt to continue pairing post ovulation. Either way , I appreciate your input and experience. I need to keep better records of pairings and dates in the coming months. Thanks again. I know the shedding is key but I thought it was post shed when the pheromonal off gassing (scent) was highest and that the male would be more receptive at that time?

Love pieds! My pied should be laying in a week. Not to burst your bubble, but pretty sure they don't lock if she actually has ovulated and is in prelay shed so she's most likely still building. I sometimes stick a male back in with a female if I question an ovy and take it as a good sign if they DONT lock.

Thanks EDR! This pair produced 5 eggs last year. But this time i added the pastel pied male first. Both males have locked with her numerous times over the past 4 to 5 months. Good luck and success with your projects. :D

This was the original way the eggs looked 3 days after being laid and at unfortunately sub optimal tub temp of 81F ( thought it was 87.5).https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...age_312382.jpg

    Re: Tis the season...
This is how they look today after correcting the temperature in the tub 12 days ago. Corrected to 88.5F - 89.5F. Humidity percent was constantly at 99% with press and seal in place. Accurite is showing incorrect humidity percentage.https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...ge_251978.jpeg

Thanks BR! I'm so worried about the low incubation temps that I had in the first few days but I must say the eggs look really good now. :D
