Unique Ball python pattern in hatchling
So I have this Pastel Ball Python hatchling and after looking at it the pattern appears fairly unique. Does not have the normal keyhole type pattern. It definitely stands out compared to the others. What do you guys think?

The eyes don't appear to be right for a Pastel. Did you purchase it or produce it?

Beautiful animal! What was the pairing? That should shed some light. Can you get a closeup pic of the head and eyes?

Here it is with two of its siblings, I'll take closer pics later.

Some of the striping almost looks like bee type stuff. Very cool!

Well i think that explains the eye color variance. Normal being dominant. Super pastel being the homozygous form the codom trait.

Interesting. I would not have guessed plain pastel off the bat... Would love to see pics of mom and dad.

No it doesn't - pastels have green eyes. It's possible that the photo colours are off though.

    Mom

looks an awful lot like one of my ghost hets who has herself thrown some odd colored babies that needs further investigation, so she might be where this comes from.

    Dad

Looks nice but nothing odd about him.

Well they can certainly have varying degrees of green along the color spectrum. And also the pairing of a normal to a pastel will affect eye color and its sharpness and contrast and vividness. I just hatched out a clutch of pastel 100% het pieds and they have varying eye colors.

@ yardy: It seems mostly that it's not the coloration in the hatchlings as it's more a patterning question in the identification. Except of course the eye color. I don't know if the OP could clarify the eye color for us though bc photo lighting can certainly play a role in any picture.

The eye color looks the same as some pastel het clowns that I have.

Sure. And I would think that this eye color has some other influence going on. There is a degree of green that is visible. More of a murky green color. Great shot! Gorgeous snake btw. :gj:

Maybe age also plays a role in the final appearance also?
