Re: My first ball python Iria
Wow, kudos to you for helping out a gorgeous bp. Was she born with only one eye? How are you heating and regulating the enclosure?

she was born with one eye.I have a heat mat and a Ceramic Heat Emitters if she gets to cold and a thermostat to regulate the temps I'm going back tomorrow to get more stuff for her tank I didn't want to buy some of the things ahead of time until i knew how big of a snake I was getting.
Re: My first ball python Iria
Oh, ok. Thanks. I would consider ditching the reptile carpet at least for now bc they are a collector for extra bacteria in the enclosure. Even though they are aesthetically pleasing, it's better that you get a good look at any potential issues with your new snake. Paper towels is a very good way to monitor a new snakes health or unprinted or even printed newspaper. Just a heads up.
Re: My first ball python Iria
I think Iria is perfect :) she's so stinkin cute.
Albert is right, the reptile carpet is a pain to keep clean, but they are machine washable if you really like them. They'd just have to be washed after every poop and urate. I like ecoearth, personally, for its ability to hold moisture for humidity. I just have to feed on paper towels to avoid substrate ingestion.

I'm going to get more fake plants when I get my christmas money then I can get some. :)
Re: My first ball python Iria
It's a nice little set up. You'll want a screen top for it, though. It won't take her long to figure out how to get out. They aren't graceful climbers, but they'll surprise you haha.

Yep! I like Iris too. It's so fitting, lol. Fantastic job with the enclosure. The other thing is to use some "Press and Seal" or aluminum foil for the top to help you keep more humidity inside. The other option for the top is a "versa top" which is a glass follding top that fits right into the the top of the enclosure. Looks great though. Congrats.
