New mystic potion!

So, it's been a few years since I've gotten a new ball python, and I ended up having to rehome one of my other snakes for personal reasons...

But! I've finally decided to get back into the swing of things, and I checked one of my favorite morphs off my list of "must have's".

Meet Phelan the mystic potion! (Don't mind the stuck shed, he ended up rubbing it off on his own!)

So, yeah, I'm super stoked to have him. I've always wanted a mystic potion. That light, foggy grey with blue eyes? Love it. And I'm not a huge fan of mystic potions with really defined rings on their sides, so I'm digging his pattern -- or lack thereof. Sorta. Can't wait to see how he colors up as he grows.

Ok, so this is a newbie question, but the back striping, doesn't it look similar to the "highways"? Is a MP part of the genome of the highway? Or am I just a stupid rookie?

Highways are a result of crossing gravel and yellowbelly, while mystic potions have the mojave and mystic genes. So, nope, they don't have any of the same genetics! The simple answer is that not all mystic potions have a perfect, unbroken line down their back. Many have this more "dashed line" appearance.
