Recommendations for feeder mice/rat selling websites?
Does anyone have any recommendations for feeder websites that have good prices, feeder mice at the pet store are pretty expensive.

How many snakes do you intend to feed? ecause unless you buy bulk 100 preys or more it's not really gonna be worth it because of shipping.

    Rodent Pro

    American Rodent Supply

    Perfect Prey

    Gourmet Rodent

    Feeder Source

    etc

I've been using Big Cheese Rodents when they are stocked and have been happiest with them.

Yeah if you only have 1 snake, its honestly not worth it as shipping is a killer but when and I say "when" cause no one can have just 1 snake lol, you get a few more, then it becomes more cost effective to order in bulk online and just buy a mini chest freezer.

My cousin and I split an order from perfect prey a couple months ago. I don't know if the mice arrived stuck together or if my cousin somehow screwed up storage a little but her husband had to break apart the mice. When she gave me my 25 mice, I had to defrost them a bit(in the fridge, worked great, the mice stayed frozen but I could separate them from each other). some of the mice had torn open when her husband separated them (she told me she gave me the ones that were still in whole), I put those over in the woods for some lucky scavenger to find, I don't feel like dealing with mouse guts...

My friend wanted to get in on our next order, but my cousin had ordered enough that they won't be ordering for a while, so my friend and I decided to split our own order. I asked around, got some web site recommendations, panicked at the shipping cost, found out there is no such thing as free shipping with frozen mice, did some more research on price and settled on:

Rodent Pro. They were, and maybe still are, running a flat rate shipping of $20. Now, I have a large freezer, and the financial ability, I ordered 250 mice and as my friend needs them she pays me for them.

Since I didn't see how the mice from perfect prey arrived, I have to assume they were a large mass frozen together, not so with the rodent pro ones. If dead, frozen mice can be beautiful, these are. they are packaged 25 to a bag, all separate from each other. I will definitely use them again. It worked out to $.80 a mouse.

Now, I know you said you have one snake, I did too (recently got my BP, have a corn also), my friend has one and if we just count the snakes my cousin has, she has two. Maybe you can find other snake keepers in your area who are also looking to get cheaper mice and you guys can go in on a bulk order together.

Thanks for the help, I think I might try this when I have more snakes, I should have looked at the shipping prices first.

I've done really well with Big Cheese. I only have one snake also, but even with the shipping ($29), after breaking it down it was cheaper than the pet store. This was especially true for when he was eating smaller feeders. Last order I had from them was small rats. They were on sale and when I factored shipping they amounted to about $2.15 per rodent. This is at least .75 to $1.00 cheaper than the per stores in my area.

When I factor in the convenience of having them on hand it helps too. So basically, for that amount I have rats for at least 7 months. Can't beat that.
