Best online f/t rodent supplier?
Not so much worried on price but best quality rats. I'm going to be laid up for quite a while from back surgery and won't be able to hit vendor at local expo for quite sometime.
Thanks in advance

Where u from
Maybe there are other in the hobby that are local to you willing to drop them off if you are out of commission. I know I would if someone local needed some help.

Any local breeders in eastern Virginia???

Asking for the best is going to get you a lot of opinions, so I'll start with mine since I've been ordering for years.
I used to order from Rodent Pro, and I'll never order from there again. They're not the best quality, they are quite small. Now keep in mind this way, back in 2010? I have no idea how they are now but because of previous experience, I'll pass on ever doing business with them again.
After a few bad orders with Rodent Pro, I switched to Big Cheese Rodents because they were the next state over for me(I live in LA, they're based in TX). I found they had the best prices and they were very nice sizes along with quality feeders, plus they got here very fast. Upwards of 100 orders from them and I had one mix up when I ordered $400 worth of stuff. I think I got an extra tray of small mice versus large mice or something IIRC. I phoned immediately after noticing and took a picture with the invoice and on my next order he gave me an extra tray for free. I'm just getting back into the hobby again, but on a much smaller scale so I'm going to place an order with him today, though a friend told me atm he's out of a lot of feeders when he called the other week.
Now Layne Labs I have personally never ordered from, but I have a few friends who swear by them. They're a bit pricer, but I've seen some of their feeders and although not justified for me with the price difference, I would definitely consider them one of the best.
Now I'll add, if Big Cheese is out of a lot, then I may order from American Rodent Supply. They currently have the best pricing and with 1 day shipping to me for $29, I'm curious to see, so if BCR is out, I'll order from these guys and post a review.

Re: Best online f/t rodent supplier?
I like to order from perfect prey.com. Super clean feeders , and they are packaged extremely well. They arrive in vacuum sealed trays. Helps keep the rodents fresh longer. Sizes for me were on the small scale, but that was fine with me actually needed them on the smaller end. Fast shipping decent prices and my animals always gobble their feeders right up. No nasty smells from the rodents either like I have experienced with rodentpro . I have also ordered from Kelly Haller over on kingsnake and his feeders were excellent quality as well.

Thanks but I live in Michigan. Usually get all my feeders from a guy at the Kalamazoo Reptile shows. Always been VERY happy with good quality rodents. That's why I'm not so concerned with price but want top quality feeders.

Thanks Neal, I'll give big cheese a shot. I'll just need a couple months supply for 4 snakes and I should be back on my feet to get back up too Kalamazoo again.

Any time. Big cheese also vacuum seals.

+1 for big cheese. Fantastic packaging. Very clean. Helpful customer service in my experience.

Agreed. When they actually have rats, of course. It's becoming increasingly frustrating lately. This week, for example, they're sold out of 6 of the 9 sizes they offer.

Re: Best online f/t rodent supplier?
I also used to use Rodentpro and while they are OK, their stock is not as clean as I would have liked to see (discolored fur on occasion, fecal matter present fairly often, etc.)
The very best I have ever used is certainly perfectprey.com. Stellar quality, always clean, vacuum packed. I have been very impressed with them and always order from there now.
I have never used big cheese though.

Re: Best online f/t rodent supplier?
Big cheese was out of stock so ordered what I needed from perfect prey. Thanks for the help everybody!!!

I had a lame experience with Rodent Pro too. Rats were dirty in a loose bag and arrived half thawed!
+1 for big cheese rodent factory, but my last order was on the smaller end of their given size range. But they're neatly packed, sealed, and clean.
I also have only heard good things about Layne Labs.

That sucks. See I haven't ordered from him in awhile because I didn't have any snakes. Though all I technically need right now is hoppers, but I like to order extra and sell to local people, at least that's what I used to do. I need to get in touch with one of the girls to see what size rats she needs though. If they're out I may try ARS.

Re: Best online f/t rodent supplier?
Perfect Prey has become my go to supplier. The feeder quality and packaging are top notch and the prices are very competitive. I've also used Big Cheese and Layne Labs in the past. They're both really good too but Big Cheese is often out of the sizes I need and Layne Labs' shipping charges are way over the top.

When I lived in TX, Perfect Prey was my go-to as well (actually, back then it was still Loxahatchee before they branded their rodent business separately). I was always happy with their service, quality, and price. When I moved back to AZ a few years ago and found out it was going to cost me 3X as much in shipping to order from them, I switched over to Big Cheese and got very similar service, quality, and price. It's only been in the last year or so that I've seen Big Cheese have their inventory issues. Nothing is more frustrating than adding an order to your shopping cart and then not being able to check out because someone else has checked out in the two seconds before you could and now your order is unavailable. That's happened multiple times for me. Inventory should not be that tight.
I've had mixed luck with Rodent Pro - price and shipping costs are good, but quality isn't always what I expect. I've heard good things about and looked into Layne Labs, but they are higher in not only in initial price, but also in shipping as well. I'll definitely have to look at ARS next time I need to make an order.

Ah see. I don't place my order online. I actually phone them and speak to the guy and tell him what I want. He knows me by voice, and even after not talking to me for over a year he recognized me when I called.

I've made many, many orders from Big Cheese and have always been very happy with them.
That said, since they are currently out of stock of almost everything I ordered from American Rodent Supply yesterday. I've never ordered from them before but I can let you guys know how they are when I receive the order.

Definitely let me know when you get the order in. I phoned them today and one question I asked was if they did vacuum packaging and he stated they did not. So I'm curious how they do all the packaging. My first preference is always going to be Big Cheese because of the level of customer service I get, but I'm debating between Perfect Prey & ARS as a backup. I know PP does vacuum packaging as well.

Re: Best online f/t rodent supplier?
Where in southern West Virginia can I find live feeder mice? Thank you

Will do! Fortunately, all of my snakes are pounding rats now that breeding season is right around the corner so the lack of vacuum packaging shouldn't be a big deal.;)
