Need Information on Humpback Ball Pythons
Hi everyone!!! We just registered and are new here, but was looking for some information on a humpback ball python. Basically if their care was any different, type of decorations for the tank, etc. We would appreciate any information that we could get!!! Thanks!!!
Re: Need Information on Humpback Ball Pythons
ummm.....please explain the origins of this humpback ball python.
Re: Need Information on Humpback Ball Pythons
He came in as a rescue, and we were told he is a humpback ball python. Basically, looks like a camel in snake form.....We have never heard of a humpback ball, that is why we are doing the research!!!
Re: Need Information on Humpback Ball Pythons
Can you give us some size(weight length) info? I have never heard of an humpback ball python. The only two ways I could think a ball python having a ''humpback'' is that it is either ovulating or has a broken spine. do you have a picture?
Where you at Adam?....ha

Re: Need Information on Humpback Ball Pythons
I can get a pic if I can my camera to work.....but my name isn't Adam...sorry...I'm just concerned about this snake. It is supposed to be a he and he is about 4 1/2- 5 feet long. This old man had him and the man died so the wife gave him to the rescue after the family wouldn't take him....
Re: Need Information on Humpback Ball Pythons
he does look like the pics but he has a hump in his back about midways that looks like the hump on a camel....
Re: Need Information on Humpback Ball Pythons
how long have you had the bp? do you know how long it has had the hump? was it housed with other ball pythons?
the more detail the better we can help :) a pic would reallly help
Re: Need Information on Humpback Ball Pythons
We just got him yesterday and he was housed alone....I know the old man did get him out and played with him, but not sure of much of anything else....I'm trying to get my software installed for my camera, so hopefully i can give you a pic...

Re: Need Information on Humpback Ball Pythons
I consulted The Manual and here it goes:
Symptom: rear third of body distended; also, not eating
Symptom: Firm mass(es) within the body
Most common cause: Either female is gravid or Male has severe constipation w/ possible intestine rupture.
Treatment: For constipation, try soaking in tepid water to encourage defecation. If no result see veterinarian for possible x-ray.
You might want to try soaking to see if it is constipation. OR just take the ball python to the vet.
Re: Need Information on Humpback Ball Pythons
I will probably just take it to the vet...I need to take my dog for her shots too so I can make one trip out of it....I know it had been a while since he ate because the girl that picked him had been cleaning the tank for her breeder mice, and he bit her and held on. After he ate, he has been fine. Going to feed him again tomorrow. Thank you for all your help. We help run a reptile rescue and are foster parents for a lot of the animals, and sometimes I get stumpped and don't know where to go except the internet for answers. I have done several searches and can't find anything about a male humpback ball python. I also don't think he is he...I think he is she. But I'm going to the vet anyway to be safe and not sorry. Thanks again for all your help!!! :)

Ball pythons are generally fed every once every 7 days and should be left alone for 2 days after feeding to reduce stress. Just incase you did not know that :)
Going to the vet is always great for a new bp anyways. Good luck and let us know how it turns out :)
