Help!! Twisted umbilical cord

So I should pull it out and place in deli cup? I'm pretty sure I can untangle the cord. My concern is we are leaving tomorrow for the Daytona show

If you can untangle the cord without cutting do that that's what I tried first, once it's done place the animal back in it's egg and place the egg in a daily cup. It is important to limit it's movement because once you mess with him he will move around dragging it's yolk and you don't want that, you want it still so deli cup is a must. (8 oz ones that are 4.5 inches in diameter.

One with holes those are too small not to have holes for oxygen ;)

I only have the 6.75 diameter ones so I went to the Chinese place and got a 4.5 diameter 32 Oz cup. Will that work?

Should be fine the main concern is him traveling horizontally and dragging the yolk.

Now will it be fine well it's really a 50/50 it will depend on whether or not he will absorb its yolk, sometimes even after untangling the cord they actually will not absorb the yolk and in this case you basically cut it off like explained in the write up and assist the animal within 48 hours, granted the animal makes it.

So it will depends on whether or not you see a difference in the yolk tomorrow if it still look the same and no progress was made in 24 hours you will have to intervene again, if you notice a difference and he is absorbing his yolk than there is a good chance that the hatchling will be fine and on schedule like the other one in the clutch.

Awesome thank you so much for all of the help. I'm really hoping everything will be ok. This clutch was a mess. We lost 3 of the eggs and they were so small when they were laid. Also do you think it is a regular pied or a leopard pied.

It seems to be ok right now. It probably weighs about 45g, which I guess is good. I'm really hoping it makes it.....I was really looking forward to this clutch.

Still alive. Can I use thread to cut off the yolk or does it have to be dental floss. All I have is the mint waxed kind

Use a rubber band instead (thread will not work) tie the knot and do not do it to close to the belly as part of the cord will be absorbed an than cut. Place back the hatchling in it's deli cup to limit his movement as you do not want him to strain himself until you assist him in a day or two.

Update. Just got home to cut the yolk sac it appears the sac was almost off. Only a small very thin vein was holding it together. I tied floss around it, but it just separated on its own. The little thing is shedding tho which it weird. I put it back into the deli cup with moist paper towels. It weighs 45g and seems to be doing better. Not too weak. Thank you. I went to the store and got unwaxed and unflavored floss. The yolk sac was just falling apart. In hopeful this little one will make it. Thank you for all of the help

So far you are doing everything you can and doing a good job at it, the first 24/48 hours are criticals if he makes it than it's assist feeding and if he makes it after that he should be just fine. He might shed a little later than the others but at least he will have some food down until you start feeding the clutch (including him) on their normal schedule.

Update, she has been assist fed twice but still hasn't shed. She is also doing this weird almost wobble thing where her head will go back and she won't fix it right away. I wonder if this will continue or it will get better as she ages.

The shed is not unusual even with animals with no issues every now an then you will have one that will not shed on schedule like the other which is ok, it will eventually.

For the wobble only time will tell.
