    Progression Thread?
So I decided I would make a progression thread for my little banana, Jumbi. I figured it'll help me keep track of his growth without so much eating up all the space on my phone because I take WAY too many pictures of him! Also, I just think he's just the most adorable thing!

He's 2 months old, turning 3 months on the 7th, currently 147g (full), not sure of his length, but I'd say about 20 inches? I'm terrible at estimating.
    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_11.jpeg
Woke him up and to find him in a ball! He never slept balled before, so this was a surprise for me :P

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_12.jpeg
Cuddling with mom because she's oh so warm! He can stay like this for days on end if I don't move him!

    And finally..

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/image_9.jpeg
That sweet little puppy dog face. He was well aware of the camera pointed at him!

    Hope you enjoyed :)

It's been 48 hours since feeding and I decided to weigh him! Growing boy for sure ;)

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_17.jpeg

Also some handling time but instead he decided to take a nap on my hand

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_18.jpeg

Then I tried to get an estimate of how long he is, but he decided to be extra curious today

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_16.jpeg

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_15.jpeg
Please ignore the messy rug, it's due for cleaning!

And finally back to his home ready for another nap!

If you want to get some more accurate weight readings, weight him after he poops, that way the prey you fed him will not interfere with the readings and you will know his actual weight.

He actually just recently pooped a week ago, so I don't think he'll go anytime soon! I've also heard that younger bps digest the mice more for growth rather than waste so it'll be a while until he goes again. But thank you for the advice! He was 142g empty. Just have to play the waiting game to accurately get his weight. He's currently 3 mice full so it'll be a heavy load :P

I woke up this morning to catch this little noodle already periscoping. He knows it's feeding time...guess who won't miss another meal? :P

Also, I think he might be going into shed? I've never witnessed the entire process before but he seems a little dull than normal. I'll find out once those anime eyes turn blue!

No surprise that he took down another meal without hesitation. I couldn't even get fully inside his enclosure yet and the mouse was gone.

The nose was bleeding a little bit more than usual though. I've never had its nose bleed this much before. Is this normal? The tail also snapped off when he took it, so could this also be a factor to the nose bleed?

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_22.jpeg

Left a bit of a mess inside his enclosure..and on him. A bath is due soon  When would be a good time to do this? I wouldn't want to disturb the digestion process and possibly cause him to regurgitate.

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_21.jpeg

And of course I couldn't pass up another pic of him realigning his jaws. I was very prepared to catch it up close this time!

Fifth feeding with me and this time was a little weird

As usual, as soon as I bring the mouse in my room to warm it up with a blow dryer, he's poking his head out of his hide and is in immediate hunting mode. Had to snap a quick bad quality zoomed in pic of him while I was blow drying the mouse :P

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_27.jpeg

Then he got it wrong end again, despite offering it head first. This little piggy was very eager to eat.

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_28.jpeg

    Here comes the weird part:

He usually constricts the prey for about 30 seconds, then attempts to swallow it. But this time, after gnawing on it a couple of times, he let the mouse go and he just stared at it. He didn't stare at it for too long and he still looked interested in it. After a few seconds he settled on the butt side again and opened his mouth to try and eat take it down. He got it down fine, but this was just such a weird behavior for him.

Do any of your balls do this? Let me know!

    !!!PIC HEAVY!!!
Took out my noodle baby the little explorer :) Weighed him again (still full after 6 feedings) and he's at 184g. But I swear this little butt is going to explode soon.

    Re: Progression Thread?
So remember when I said he might explode soon..?

WELL HE DID! I took him out to handle him a little bit and I noticed a smell coming from his cage. First indication that he might've pooped. I looked around the cage and I couldn't find it, so I thought maybe it was just my head playing games with me xD

When I was handling him, I noticed that the lump was gone. So I went and checked again.. lo and behold...

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_31.jpeg

He pooped on his plant! Although it took a while to look for it, I'm glad it wasn't on the substrate! Easier clean up? Now the plant is having a good ole soak in hot water.

    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_32.jpeg
He was very satisfied with himself and took a big gulp of fresh water. Now I can accurately weigh him! xD

This guy has an incredible tolerance of being handled! He doesn't even care when I pet his head and when I hover my hand above him, he won't even ball up or flinch! May have a hard time weighing him now that he's so comfortable with me and will move around on the scale :tears::P

    Another day, another feed..
After his wonderful 6g poop, he was so restless and would come out hunting early in the morning. He's already grown out of the weaned mice, so I'm feeding him 2 for the time being. Until I transfer to the appropriate size rat feeder xD

Bill(WmbHerbst on the forum & his breeder) called him a chunker, and I totally agree. He looks so chunky in this pic:
    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_38.jpeg

First mouse: got it on the wrong end, it was a little messy :(
Second mouse: heated up the head more, and he got it head on. :gj:

He honestly looks so happy now that he's fed. Sleep tight little chunker! XD

Took little chunker out today and weighed him. I seem to just like weighing him often and see how much he weighs before eating, after eating, after pooping, etc. It's pretty cool lol! Two mice full and weighing at 197g

I think we have our first signs of shed!
I just came home from college, and I noticed that little chunker is very dull. My mom's been updating me on his behavior since he last ate and said he's been under his hide for the most part.

Not sure if you can tell that he's dull in these pictures but I sure can!
    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_44.jpeg
His eyes haven't gone into that milky phase yet, so I'm assuming he's headed there.

Also, some of his scales are raised especially around his neck area. Scared the crap out of me and thought something scratched him. Is this anything to be concerned about? This will be the first time he's shed with me and my first experience of him shedding.
    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_45.jpeg
    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_46.jpeg

I just placed some sphagnum moss inside his enclosure and the humidity is at 65%. Cold side 77, warm side 89-92. I also put some moss under his hide to make a humid hide just in case.

yeah, he's loosening up. scales can raise a bit and they sometimes get a turkey neck thing going on and they get extra wrinkles/folds. they loosen up to tighten up. keep that humidity up and pretty soon, u will have a fresh, shiny banana. :)

    Re: Progression Thread?
Was a little hesitant to feed him today since he was in shed (although not deep in shed yet). Gave it a shot anyway..

and I have never in my life seen a snake eat a mouse SO FAST. The first mouse he got by the head and constricted it with a delay.

Second mouse is the fun part! He grabbed it by the head and started swallowing it. Didn't even constrict or anything. A minute didn't even go by and it was GONE. It was really entertaining to watch xD Being in shed must be so tiring!
    http://i515.photobucket.com/albums/t.../image_47.jpeg

And here's a little clip of him realigning his jaws:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_H8kOWn_w0

He's now happily tucked away inside his hide. He's already got that poop butt forming. It's gonna be a huge one when he sheds. :P:rolleyes:

    Re: Progression Thread?
    This one's a long one.

So I came home today from college because my mom called the other night to say that Jumbi was already shedding. I was SO confused! I missed the entire process and I thought he was just starting the process [emoji23]

That being said, I wasn't able to raise the humidity early enough, and since this is my first time experiencing the shedding process, it was a bad one. I came home to a huge mess and a huge poop.
    http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...fe633022d6.jpg
    http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...134485cf6b.jpg
Luckily his head shed came off nicely with the eye caps included
    http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...f3d0f11a3d.jpg
So to assist with his shed, I took Bill's advice on the warm wash cloth trick and let him slither around in it. I had to rub it gently and it came off without a problem. This was him before:
    http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...03280e534f.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...ccd8747140.jpg
And after I peeled the banana:
    http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...e8678abba8.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...53d3bd1e07.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...bc045c3e96.jpg
He looks fresh from the farmer's market!
I also had to do an entire cage clean (it was due anyway). I didn't have enough reptibark to cover the floor, so I decided to cover about 1/3 of the area with sphagnum moss and change it up a bit:
    http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...d5c3733faa.jpg
    http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...4d76afc906.jpg
The log will have to go soon. He uses it perfectly fine to thermoregulate, but he's quickly outgrowing it:
    http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...d03aa9cadd.jpg
A whopping 232g empty! Now he's back in his clean terrarium and napping the night away:
    http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...963723d0d5.jpg

Nothing better than a fresh banana. Next time will be a better shed!

how were u able to get the stuck shed off? we're always interested in methods that work.

also i think he will be fine in that half log for awhile. some BP's don't like the logs, but yours seem like it does. anyway it looks like he could pile 3-4 coils high in there still. even if he's too big, they like it snug. (lol some don't trade out hides until their BP's starting wearing them like "hats")

I didn't soak him, I just got a wash cloth and wet it with warm water and kind of bundled him in it like a pig in a blanket lol. Then after 10 or so minutes being wrapped up in the wash cloth on my lap, I started to gently rub down the stuck shed areas and it came off in large sections. At one point I was holding the shed with my finger and kinda slithered like he was shedding it himself. He was very patient with me and he was really good about it!

As for the log, I meant the long one on the cold side lol. There's an opening in the back on the left side in the pic and it mimics a cave. It's starting to get a little too tight for him so I may have to find a different cold hide area soon. Also, it has an opening on the right side that's like a skinny tunnel and I'm worried I'll find him stuck in there because he's such a fatty now! But yeah, the half log will last him another 8 or so months maybe until he's a yearling! He can still get 3 coils under there[emoji28] I covered the back opening with the vines that are bundled up so its dark in there. He actually kind of looked annoyed with them because he usually likes going through the back entrance [emoji23]

Jumbi was very restless today. I found another poop when I got back to check on his enclosure. That's 1 shed and 2 poops within 3 days, so he was incredibly hungry lol! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...8e5c69903c.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...e3737ef87b.jpg

He always periscopes outside of his hide the day before feeding. He always thinks I might feed him a day early. Silly chunker haha [emoji13]

My dress was on my bed and he found it to be a comfy place to settle. I literally carried him in it and he just laid still like a little prince. [emoji23]

Really pretty snake. I just love banana. Pastel Banana is next on my list. Very nice. Thanks so much for sharing!

Thought it would be cool to post some comparison pics. I've only had him for a little under 3 months so there's not any massive change since I got him, but clearly growing! [emoji16]

    nice! love the comparison shots.

it's especially remarkable when u look back at their hatchling pix or think back of when u first get them. they look so big, so normal size in the breeder pix. but when u get them in hand, they're just scaredy, lil noodles with big heads. then they grow into these lil giants we call ball pythons. lol

They really do look bigger in pictures! All my friends think he's huge until I show them a pic of him in my hand. Gotta cherish the lil noodle moments! Soon he'll be one large banana haha[emoji23]

Little chunker has broken the 300g mark! 301g to be exact[emoji6]

I'm still trying to get rid of the mice which is why it looks so small (because it is!) so he gets 2. He'll end up with 3 soon [emoji28] Then to rats!
