Yup.. hope you know what you're in for. Burms are awesome animals. I hope you mean you offered it a rat pink, since a mouse pink is way too small for even a newborn burmese.

    Good luck with him.

Where did you get him, he is adorible. I was wondering if you went through a petstore or a breeder.
    Congratulations

Very nice shots - congrats on the new python! And welcome to the site! Good thing you have a neighbor with experience - but always feel free to drop by here and ask any advice you might need - Rusty, Kara or any of our other members keeping/breeding/rescuing larger constrictors are great sources of information and advice.

Cool beans - Kara (KLG) has some of the most amazing specimens of any given species you're likely to see. We try not to be too jealous of her, but it's a hurculean struggle :P

I love them big boogers. I hope I didn't come across as cold, you just never know. Some people just think it's a cute baby and they'll dump it at the zoo (so they think) when it gets too big. Best of luck.

Yeah I hear you Rusty.. usually every couple of weeks we get a guy who dumps his (often several) snakes on us at work. Once a guy brought a bag with three burms and a boa shoved in it. Last week it was an albino burm and a colombian BCI. I don't get it.. I would never buy an animal that I didn't intend to care for the rest of it's life.

    Re: my first burm!
Certainly not a hot bath. Soak him in lukewarm water for an hour. Make sure the water is shallow so the snake doesn't have to swim. Put some paper towels or rags in there so the snake has something to rub the loose skin off on.

    Re: my first burm!
Often folks will use a bucket with lukewarm water (if it feels WARM to your fingers it is almost too hot for the snake) with something to serve as a lid (screen etc).

    Re: my first burm!
A plastic container with a snap on lid works great for soaking smaller snakes like young burms and ball pythons.

I don't put anything inside the box for them to rub on, after an hour of soaking almost of of the shed practically slides off of them.

You can put the box inside the animals cage while they soak so it stays warm.

    Good luck.
