Black Pastel Pied x Pixel Pied Eggs are here!

I got home today around lunch time and although she hadn't really looked in the mood to lay today I checked in on Nibiru and she was all coiled up around her new clutch! Five *big* healthy looking eggs with nice strong veins. I really thought there were more in her than that, but she looks like a deflated tire so I'm confident they are all here. I'm so thrilled! Now for the sixty day wait! They are due in the area of September 11th so they will all be getting patriotic names.

I'm so excited! I've been waiting for this for six years and after losing her first clutch last year this one means all that much more to me. Wish me luck! This is my one and only clutch for the year, but next year I hope to have another female or two ready to pair up with him as well.

Here she is...now I can finally move her to a clean bin, I've left the urate because I haven't wanted to disturb her this past week.

Four all stuck together with one stuck to the top of the heap (already that one is my fav) all settled in the incubator...now to resist checking in on them ever five minutes!

Here's a shot of daddy (Manhattan) the unofficially named 'Pixel Pied'. I know he has thrown speckle patterned pieds for his last owner but no one has really taken the time to figure out what's going on with him, it will be interesting to see what if any reaction his genes have to the black pastel and I would be over the moon to get a black pastel pied female that has his awesome digital pattern on her:

Congrats piedlover!!! My lovely mama just laid her eggs today too! Such an exciting day for us both :D our clutches should hatch around the same time. Can't wait to see what pieds you hatch!! :D

Can anyone tell I'm excited? If these guys pip it will be my first clutch in five years (had to stop breeding for a while but kept this gal through all my moves and upheaval...almost sold her a few times but could never bring myself to part with her, so glad of that now!).

Heehee. Update: They are 1 week old today and they look great! They look exactly the same as when they were fresh laid.

Day 45, the wait is killing me! Two of the eggs have started to dimple, but so far they all look great.

Yes. The closer you get to the hatch date, time mysteriously slows down. :p

It's maddening. Luckily I'm working a ton between now and then. Good distraction. :)

If she retained sperm from her breeding the season before this one then yes. Last season bred her to a black pastel pinstripe het pied, sadly lost that clutch. It's a small chance of a panda but certainly not zero.

Fingers crossed, can't wait to see the updates!

I will start a new thread of pictures when they are out. But so far no snoots have poked out. Today is day 57 so hopefully very soon!

I think this is interesting because none of my babies are poking their heads out either and mine are around the same day as yours. Our babies are taking their sweet precious time.

Arrrggghhhh. No. If they haven't pipped when I get home I will cut a tiny slit in each one. Just enough to make sure they can get out. My hope though is to come home to at least one pip. ;)

I'm so hoping to see a little snoot when I get home! I've cut all my other clutches at day 55 so I feel like I've behaved myself this time around seeing as it's day 58. :)
