Drum set in same room as BP.
So I have a space issue. I have a 3500 drum set that I will not get rid of and use daily. It takes up a good bit of space. The only room I can have it in is the same room I have my BP in. Will playing bother him ? Wasn't sure if the noise and such would stress him out or anything. Hard spot to be in if so because I am equally passionate about both my set and my BP.

Would bother your ball python. They're solitary animals who don't even really like sunlight if they can help it. Noise is just going to add stress.

Crap. Ok so I definitely need to figure out where to move things around at then. I do not want to move him from the room he is in not do I want to make life stressful for Ziggy. Thanks for the input.

I don't think drums give off a lot of vibration unless hooked to sound system. I'm not a scientist either. And I didn't realize bp's had ears. Cool to know.

Snakes don't have external ears but they do have inner ears and studies have proven that snakes can detect airborne sounds. They also detect sound through vibration of soild surfaces Hard to know how much vibration of the drums will translate into vibration of the enclosure.

Do you have a dampening kit? Black skins or similar like (Remo) type stuff? The biggest problem with affecting a snake will be the vibration through the floor of your kick. I used to drum myself but moved to guitars a number of years ago and I play my half stacks through headphones now to avoid the vibrations through the floor/air. I'd say if you get dampening skins and throw some towels in your bass you'll limit the noise that would affect Ziggy to a bare minimum if not eliminate it altogether.

I'm also a drummer and have bps and yes drums give off a hell of a lot of vibration.
I had my drum kit in my attic and my first bp in the room below and every time I would play she'd be out looking for an exit.
She may have been sensitive or just a hell of a lot of coincidences but it was almost every time.
If you can't move either I would get some dampers. I had a set of vic firth dampers which where pretty good and stuffed the bass with blankets and loosened the bass skin a little when I needed to be quiet. But it's not the same then lol

Playing drums quiet doesn't sound like any fun at all. ;)

Thanks for all the input guys. I don't have any dampeners and I already have 2 pillows inside the bass drum. I think I can find some cymbal dampeners online or at guitar center but K customs sound really really good lol. Either way Ziggy will always come before the drum set but if I can find a compromise than that's all the more better.

How often do you play? Perhaps a 'temp' container to chill out in while you play in a room across the house?

I play for about two hours everyday and I'm just going to move Ziggy to my bedroom I think.

That's probably the best plan. Two hours every day would be a lot to spend in a secondary container.

    Keep rocking!

Yeah and like I said Ziggy and his comfort is more important to me than playing for 2 hours a day.

Also kind of works out good to move him in my room because now I have a reason to go make an extra space for the cinny spider in getting this week !!!
