New dragon handler
Since being a child I dreamed about having a snake, and now I'm having a small crew of 18 of them... In the meantime I was also having 3 crested geckos, but that was when I was a total newbie and they were sooo jumpy and easily scared that I finally decided to rehome them for someone who'll appreciate them more. After few years of keeping snakes and talking with breeders and owners of both snakes and lizards/geckos I decided to try keeping reptiles with legs too! Around 3 weeks ago we adopted a crestie, and two days later my husband decided that he wants a beardie. This way we got a 2months old female oddball from citrus&oddball pairing. She's called Dragon Feet, and is growing like a weed!

Week later we went to reptile expo in our town and got a het. hypo citrus orange leatherback male, also 2 months old... that's when I fell in love with them totally and now can't wait to start handling them after acclimating period ends.

I guess that sooner or later we'll get a second female too... :D
This week I should make some better pics, especially of the Dragon Feet since she shed today and her colors realy popped up!

Congratulations! Beardies are the best. ;) They are so pretty!

Thank you! :) I always thought that they are one of the species that are "more work than fun", but I'm super glad that my husband did not listen to me and just bought them, haha! Thay are really amazing and something different than snakes, reminds me of pet rats, but they live a lot longer!

Oh God, they are growing sooo fast! Especially Dragon Feet, I never had a reptile growing as fast as her!
The pics on the left were taken when we bough them (around month ago), on the right were taken today.

(I'm sorry that the first pic is in box, I did not though about doing progress photos at the time...)
After that month I noticed that Dragon Feet is more calm, she's the type that will lay and be petted. I'm not sure if that's because she's more shy and afraid of wandering around, or just more lazy, haha!
Bazyl on the contrary will sit still for a few minutes but then he'll try to jump around to see everything. Again, not sure if he's afraid and tries to hide from me, or more courageous and just likes to see everything around.

Aw, love the pics! They do grow fast. :) My two girls are the same way, one is super laid back and the other is bouncing off the walls, lol!

Hahaha, yeah, my pair is exactly like this. And thank you! In some ways it's sad that they won't be small cute babies for a little longer, but then in a few months I'll have adults that I can play with without worrying that they'll run away easily.

Oh I totally forgot to post updates here too! So, we're now having 3 dragons, Dragon Feet, Bazyl and small female Basil from Czech. They are a lot of fun and every single one of them has their own personality and routines that others do not (For example, Basil is always pooping only in her water bowl, she never once went outside of it, and then she's patiently waiting for me to change it every single day... or Dragon Feet loves to just sit on my lap, but when she needs to go to the loo she'll let me know everytime, the first time I didn't understand what she wanted and when I noticed the tail being lifted and went to put her back in her tank she grabbed onto me as if saying "you didn't want to put me back when I wanted so now you deserve all of it!" and she's totally afraid of any insects others than meal or superworms... or Bazyl is like a super bro hooligan, very independent, hates cuddling, always messing around, trying to eat his bowls instead of what's inside of them and loving his roaches). But, I won't pos all the stories about them as it would take a lot of space and time, so here's a lot of pics for you!

New updates! Both Bazyl and Basil had a big growth spurts in last month, while Dragon Feet is still trying to hibernate and eats less. Unfrotunately it's very dark and cloudy outside recently so all the pics are having that weird "brownish" tint to them... Believe me, they aren't all that brown/orange (both Bazyl and Basil are grey)! I hope there will be a sunny day soon so I could take a more realistic pics. But on the other hand I kind of like that steam-punk style on these.

New pics of our girl! She gained some weight back (she losed some of it when she decided that it's winter and she wouldn't eat for a week), and shed 5 days ago so has her lovely colors! We were lucky to catch some sunny light today, so the pics are finally good ones.

Beautiful Beardies! They are getting so big. Ive always wanted an orange or a citrus bearded dragon. Maybe also a true German Giant.

Thank you! We plan to add citrus and hypo zero females to our group, but it'll need to wait as we don't have enough space for now!

Thank you all!
Today I did some pics of our boy as he shed two days ago too! He's getting soooo big, he was always smaller than Dragon Feet, but now is even bigger than her! And after his shed he developed some yellow on his sides, I'm super suprised by this. I mean he was sold to me as citrus orange leatherback het. hypo, but he was always grey with some orange markings on his sides, no yellow at all! I just guessed he didn't have all the "morphs" that I got in his description, but maybe I was wrong and he's just a late bloomer ;) But I'll watch it just in case it's something like yellow fungus (yeah, I'm always assuming the worst).
And no, he's not that skinny, he was just taking a weird pose every time I tried to take a pic.

I'm amazed by our Bazyl. We bought him as Citrus Orange het. hypo, but I always thought that it was a little "farfetched"... it was okay since we liked his light grey color.
After his last shed he got a lot of yellow on his sides which was odd and I decided we will watch him closely for any signs of diseases. Two days ago he shed once again and well, I'm really stunned, he looks like totally different dragon! I know that they can become brighter/darker as they age but I never heard about a dragon that was grey for his whole life and then suddenly after 2 sheds became totally different.
Now I can't wait to see how he will look after few more sheds!
That was him when we bought him at 2 months old:

Well, it's too late to edit now, so I'll post it there (if mod/admin will read it please feel free to change that pic below with the third pic on the post above).

Woah, found some old pics of our dragons on my camera! On some colors are not the best but I liked the pose etc.
Here's smaller Basil and her weird life...
(yes, she never went to do her business into somewhere other than her water bowl. I need to empty it at least two times a day).

While our Bazyl boy is growing like a weed and changing colors he's also starting to be more grown-up character wise. He's very independent, always trying to run around, but also calm enough to being held for a while (then he's trying to run off so much that my hands looks like typical cat mom hands). I can't take good pics of him recently since he decided that I will not dictate him how he needs to pose!
Dragon Feet on the contrary is a typical sweetheart that will just lie on me until she needs to go to the loo. She's like "you should put each of my feet the way you like because I don't know what you need" and then will stay in that position until I move her to another one. It's definitely easier to take a good pic and no scratches at all ;)
You really can not love how totally different each dragon is.

Today was the first sunny day in this month so I decided to do December update pics of our dragons! The pics went fairly well considering that our building is between two others and it's always darker than outside. I really want spring already to take good, outdoor pics of our animals!
Bazyl is being yellower and yellower with each shed. Here he is a little dull as he still needs to shed some parts. It's funny how he looks totally different at each angle and light!
As always my hands are all scratched as he was trying to run off... I need to star wearing gloves when holding him, since it's not like he's aggressive, he just sits few minutes and then wants to wander about by himself couse he's a big man and I will not tell him what he can and can't do! He's the biggest dragon for now, growing like a weed.

Dragon Feet is the sweetest one as always, she stopped growing as fast recently. We finally teached her that roaches are nothing scary and she will eat them when they are in her bug bowl (if they wander in her cage she will pretend she can't see them).

Basil as always taked her weird pose that makes her super fat... She's a little round but nowhere near as much as on the pics. She's also normally a lot lighter but she doesn't like being held too much and is always darker from the stress. I start to wonder if she may be a bearded&rankin's mix since she grows a little, but is still pretty small for a 6 months old beardie.

I did some update pics of our girls today as it's a nice, sunny day! Still need to take update of our boy too, but since he scratches me a lot I really don't like handling him recently... Any tips what to do with their nails? They have some stone slates in their tanks but it doesn't help too much...
Also I wanted a tegu soo much, but with two new dogs and a pony (we're buying house in the village and the seller can't take the animals with him so they'll stay with us) plus all our animals we really won't have enough money + space to feed such a big lizard... so I guess we'll stay with beardies and maybe some other small lizards. Any tips what other species are as friendly as beardies?

Re: New dragon handler
The dragons are looking great!!
For nails, if he is scratching you up you can use small human nail clippers and trim off the very tip, making sure not to cut the quick (google a pic of what to cut/not cut), or just use a nail file to make them duller.
I've heard Blue Tongue Skinks are a lot like beardies, but don't personally own one.

Re: New dragon handler
A little late "January" update on Bazyl! He was in shed, so that's why his monthly update is now moved two weeks later. He's soo more yellow now that I can't really describe how amazed I am. Just look at the pics and see the difference!
And yes, I know that the gloves look kinda funny with beardie, but I have really delicate skin and he has really shaaarp nails, so when he starts to scratch ("I'm a big man, you can't hold me in place!") I end up with soo many stinging marks that I just decided to use gloves. Unfortunately he hates clipping his nails, and the stone slates don't help, so it'll be big bad*ss gloves for now.

Re: New dragon handler
Since I posted updated info about our beardies in our snake thread here it is copied from >this< thread.
I also needed to rehome two of our three beardies since our living conditions changed a lot and we couldn't fit proper enclosures in our current flat. Now we have 8 reptiles and 2 dogs and it looks like it will stay this way for foreseeable future. Even if we will be able to fit more enclosures one day, I'm not really sure if I will still want to get more reptiles as after being "forced" by life to rehome three* of my favourites I kinda lost a small part of my heart for this hobby.
Good thing is that one of the beardies went to my sister and I visit her a lot while the other one is with my friend so at least I can still be a part of their life.
*three since I needed to sell one of my snakes too
