My Snake Died Last Night

It was my fault. . .
I was holding her and I fell asleep. I suffocated her without even knowing. And not only did I have to wake up to my dead beloved pet, I also have to now live with the guilt of having been the one to kill her. She was just a baby. She had never bitten me. She had literally never hurt a living creature. I'd always fed her frozen/thawed. She didn't deserve to die. Nothing in my life was harder than having to bury her.

I am so sorry for your loss.
I've gone through something similar and I know nothing can take away that guilty feeling, just remember, this was an accident. Take it as a learning experience to be more cautious in the future and cherish the good memories you have of her. Again, I am so very sorry.

That is really tough. :/ I am sorry it happened like that. I wish I could help in some way. As mentioned earlier you can take it as a learning experience for any future pets. :(

Condolences on your loss. I can sympathize, in a way... when I was a kid, I closed the door without looking and shut it on a kitten who had just reached the 'chase everything' stage. I broke her back. I was holding her while she screamed until the vet put her down, and her mother was frantically searching for her for days. I still feel guilty, and it's been thirty six years. There's no way to make amends to the animal, but I still look every time before I close the door to make sure nothing will get hurt.

I am sooo sorry to hear this. As with all hard lessons though, now you know what not to do in the future. I don't even handle my snakes while drowsy for that reason. Try to focus on the fact that before your beloved died, you gave him/her a wonderful life! <3

Just remember that it was an accident and remember the memories and take it as a lesson

Must be tough to have your first post on this Forum be about killing your snake. Glad you found a place to vent.

I just need to say that the amount of you replying to me in this tough time is really helpful. I'm a guy and haven't cried in years. Every time her name pops into my head I just relive waking up and finding her body there and I collapse. I'm going to get a tattoo in honor of her. That and giving my next snake the life she never got to live is the best I can do in honor of her. Thanks for your support.
