Weird season for anyone else?
Hey!
I'm just wondering if anyone else is having a really weird breeding season. Two of my girls went a month late, and one of the clutches clearly was bad, but the other one was laid last night and looks pretty okay. I have another female that'll be a month late in a couple days. My pinstripe female shed twice and might lay soon if she's going to. It seems really late to me. Last year the two females I bred laid in april and may.
As a little aside, does anyone know what might cause a female to be eggbound? My cinnamon, the one who laid a month late with the bad clutch, kept an egg. We're going to try to drain it so she can pass it because it's pretty big, but I'm just curious what might have caused this.

Unless I missed them, I've haven't even had any ovulation yet. There is only one out of four females which I thought ovulated, but now I'm not sure. Since the date that I thought she went (the 7th) I haven't seen any sign of her acting like she is gravid. She is not hugging the heat at all and actually is still bowl wrapping. So my season is going to be incredibly late.

Had a pastel girl lay 5 seemingly perfect eggs all without veins aside from that nothing strange.

Nothing here and my female is back on her feeding schedule. I saw a number of locks with my butter and pastave, spider, and bee. No luck this year, but there is next season. I just can't wait for my pastel het clown fem gets big enough for the male pastel het clown, and my pied girl another year or so.

My bumblebee laid 6 eggs and only one was good out of that clutch. And my pewter girl did lay about 2 weeks later than I anticipated.

Same here. I will note it's my first time pairing BPs (bred corns and boas before). They've been locking up steadily since early December. She's still bowl wrapping and they are still going strong. I thought breeding BPs was generally supposed to be easy lol
Re: Weird season for anyone else?
None of my males have really shown interest in breeding. I have three proven breeder males and have only seen one lock from either of them. I have two clutches on the ground, pretty much 'who's your daddy' clutches as of right now as I haven't noticed any locks in one of the females and only one lock with the other female; rotating different males in with both females.

Idk about a werid year/season since this was my first breeding season ever. But I did get two clutches of eggs. One clutch was from a lesser x lesser pairing, got 4 big beautiful fertile eggs and one died within a week. They hatched June 13 and my out come was one lesser and two normals. Not great odds. My second clutch was a Normal x yellow belly spider, she too laid 4 eggs. Two were roll outs and one of those two died within a couple days. The other one collapsed when I put it into incubator but did hatch. The roll out egg that hatched only weighed 32 grams and died yesterday for some unknown reason. Out of my second clutch I got 3 normals down to two now since little worm didnt make it.
