    Basic Morph/Breeding Question
I want to get a Panda Pied. From what I've been told and what I understand it should be obtainable from a Pied and a Super Pastel. However I was playing with this fun calculator and it says this combination will yield 100% Super Pastel Het Pied. Is this correct and I'm missing something or is it wrong?

A panda pied is a super black pastel pied. Super pastel x pied will yield 100% pastel het pied.

Piebald is recessive, meaning both parents either need to be visual (homozygous) or carry the gene with them (not showing/ heterozygous) which are the het.

Also super pastel X pied will give 100% pastel Het. pied.

This is because super pastel is a super, which means it has 2 pastel genes.
When bred it will give 100% pastels

Pied is recessive so BOTH need to carry the gene.
Super Black Pastel Pied is a Panda and I think a Super Cinny Pied may also give you the same Panda look

Ok. So bear with me. I really want to do this on my own from scratch. So if I start with a pied and a Super Pastel. I'll get super pastel het pieds. Which will be pretty much normal super pastels carrying the pied gene. If I breed a male and female from that clutch I should have a chance at the panda?

No you will NOT get a super pastel het pied.

Super pastel is a double pastel, hence the super.

with super pastel X piebald you will get 100% : PASTEL het. piebald

Beside that you can not get a panda pied with a pastel... only with a black pastel in super form WITH pied. 2 different genes

So you would have to get a Black pastel OR a Super black pastel Male/Female (depending on your piebald)
    Breed it to your piebald.
Keep 1.1 black pastel het. pied

When both male and female black pastel het pieds are on breeding weight you breed them together
Hope on the odds that you hit a Super black pastel piebald which is 1/16 chance so 1 in 16 eggs

No matter how hard you try with a super pastel and a pied you will not get a panda pied. You need a black pastel, either a super black pastel or a black pastel. Pastel and Black Pastel are two completely different things.

At the very minimum to produce a Panda which is a Super BLACK Pastel Pied (NO Pastel gêné involved) you will need to pair a Black Pastel Het Pied X Black Pastel Het Pied

If you want to start from scratch you will need to pair a Black Pastel to a Pied, hold back the offspring Black Pastel Het Pied and pair them to each other when ready.

And please before embark on this venture make sure to learn about the Super Black Pastels and Super Black Pastel combos issues.

    This is a BLACK PASTEL

By Pairing a Pied to a Super Pastel you would NEVER get Super Pastel Het Pied, you would get Pastel Het Pieds and you will NEVER produce a Panda

That's very helpful Deborah. It's there a link for a post on the issues with them I can read about or do you know yourself? I remember reading vaguely something about their spines. I was going to look into that next but wanted to get this down first.

No, you are getting lost in the morph names. A black pastel is very much different then a regular pastel. A normal pastel is more of a yellow. For the panda pied you need black pastel pieds or black pastel get pieds, or cinnamons.
