Anyone else really enjoy feeding day?
I absolutely love feeding day! I look forward to it every week! Something about my snakes taking a meal makes me really happy lol how precise they are and the anticipation and force of the strike is something that gives me a little thrill. My super pastel is the one I'm most excited about since he was a problem eater for several months but now has had 11 consecutive feedings! The Ivory I recently received had his second meal with me last night and once he finished he sat with his head sitting by the entrance of the hide and every time he would see me he would come half way out s shaped ready for another, I really wanted to give him more but I didn't give in lol. I love how aggressive my killer bee is during feeding time, she always knows when I'm setting up to feed and as soon as she smells it she is out ready for me to put it in, half the time I can't even get it through the door before she has it.

Does anyone share the same joy in feeding day as I do?

It's my favorite day over here as far as snake interactions with the captives go. Even though I know 9/10 of the time how each animal it going to react, it's those wildcard moments that really keep me on my toes that I love.

It's probably my least favorite day, that and shedding time. lol It just means I can't handle them for the next 2 days. I've been feeding snakes long enough I find the actual feeding rather boring. Occasionally the snakes will spice it up by latching onto the tongs because I wasn't fast enough pulling them back but I wouldn't exactly call that exciting either. haha I guess I would say Demigod's feeding is usually rather amusing, he's a character. I feed him almost as much as he will eat each week (he gets 2 mouse pinks but can't swallow a rat pink or a mouse fuzzy and can't swallow a third mouse pink), and he still acts like he's on death's door every feeding. I walk in, he comes flying out of hiding, snapping up at the top of the tank as I open it, and flailing around in general. I had him jump up as high as he could and latch onto my fingers once, had just barely started putting the mouse into his tank. He makes my retic look like a kitten, I'm lucky he's under 2'.

Luckily, I don't usually feed everyone on the same day since everyone is on very different feeding schedules, and most of my snakes are eating every 2-3 weeks.

I enjoy feeding day and even just watching them swallow their meal to the end. Always enjoyed since my first bp when I was younger and still today.

My three favorite reasons for keeping snakes are watching them, feeding them, and handling them. In that order too. :)

I agree. Sadly I'm not getting as much pleasure as I would like watching them because I can't see them in their hides. I hope this improves as they age and get some size to them. [emoji45]

Feeding days are great as long as my estimation of who is going to eat is pretty close. I like cleaning day better believe it or not. My youngest kids are usually involved. I have have one kid holding animals and recording weights and such. The other is cutting paper towels and getting water. We have gotten pretty efficient lately. My favorite days of all though are the ones that I pull eggs.

It'll get better T, especially with your carpets and bull. My kings still hide quite a bit and only come out when they're hungry, my bulls are almost always out in the open, and the carpets are usually out perching most nights unless they're shedding and sometimes after they've just eaten.

My favourite part of having Valentine is handling her so I don't love feeding day for that reason...2 days of no snake hugs. :colbert: :(

I also live super active lifestyle so it can be tricky to remember to pull the mouse out in the morning (we let it thaw naturally). So if I happen to be away on the weekend (Sunday is feed day) I'm always sort of thinking about it in the back of my head - get home and get that mouse out.

I do really enjoy watching her get it down. It amazes me every time and her strike has improved. We are lucky that she takes the mouse within seconds so never a long production.
