    Should I buy?
So I just checked craigslist and I found someone selling the following:

    1 boaphile 6421D for $250
2 boaphile 6 drawer rhinoraxx with heating $225/ ea
    1 boaphile 421T with heat for $150
    2 VE-300 thermostats new for $75, used for $50

I am considering the 421T and maybe the newer thermostat. Thoughts on boaphile cages and VE thermostats?

If the cage is in good shape, and you don't have to pay to have it shipped, I'd say that's a good price for it. I can't speak about those thermostat's though, I've only used Herpstats.

Asking for cage quality and pics. It wouldn't hurt to have another thermostat on hand.

I would get both t-stats and the two large enclosures, but I have larger snakes.

I don't have the room or need for such a large cage. No plans on getting a large boa (as legally I can't own one in my area), nor do I plan to get anything larger than a BP. I had similar thoughts on the thermostats, for sure the newer one, and probably will get the used as well.

Omg I would at least go check them out. Would buy in a heartbeat if it's in good shape

I plan on checking into the 421T and thermostats on Thursday. If the larger cage had equally sized doors I would probably get that too, but it looks like it 4' on one side and 2' on other.

Any red flags I should be aware of when purchasing a used snake enclosure? I fully intend to do some extreme cleaning before a snake even goes in it.

Definitely run your fingers through it to see if there's any mites. Make sure am the heat tape works because replacing them is a pain in the ass

I never had to deal with mites for snakes...how big are they and what color are they ( I assume a dark color)?

Any cleaning you do should get rid of the mites. When I buy used enclosures I clean them outside with mild dish soap and water, let them dry, hit them with pure ammonia (no other disinfectant kills crypto), let sit for several hours, rinse very well, allow to air dry overnight, then mist with F10SC.

I was to follow that exact procedure which I believe you posted on a recent thread. What is crypto?

A very nasty and 100% fatal disease. https://en.wikivet.net/Snake_Cryptosporidiosis

Disinfectants like chlorine bleach, F10, and chlorhexidine don't kill it. It can also lay dormant for months. Because the transmission is fecal-oral it's a big problem for people who keep their lizards in colonies, if they happen to introduce one that has the disease but isn't showing symptoms yet. Fecal exams often return false negative results.

That is an understatement, and thank you for providing the article. It just feeds my paranoia about disinfecting.

I'd take a look at them and see if they are in decent shape but prices are good. Clean them out well obviously. Where are they located at? I could use a 6 footer but probably not worth the drive.
