Edith
Looking good after her one piece shed. Starting to eat more regular and almost took the fuzzy off the tongs last night. 40g or so right now. Shag is doing well and about 200g but has gone into BP mode (staying in a hide all day) for some reason. Seems to have started after I cleaned his tank and changed the bedding from aspen to repti bark/coconut fiber so I'm going to switch back to see if he will revert back to a carpet. Would have gotten a BP if that's what I wanted. lol

Re: Edith
She looks beautiful! Seems to be coming along very nicely. I love her colors. I'm We have all of the carpets on repti bark and it seems to work well. Isabel and Leila stay in their hides pretty much all day and only come out once the sun goes down usually to bask and get some exercise. Lily alternates between running around and being in her hide while the sun is out. I just assumed it was because they are nocturnal and happy in their hides.

Edith is a beauty alright. Looking great!
I wouldn't worry about Shag yet, he may be starting his pre-shed phase or just wanting some privacy. He'll be back to hanging out soon. :)

Great looking carpet! That comment about him (Shaq) reverting to ball python mode was hilarious. Made my day. Thanks.

Thanks biglou3, I really like her colors and I am enjoying watching her grow. When I first got shag he would stay in a hide all day but always came out as soon as lights were out. He even eventually started staying perched on his branch 24/7 but has recently started hiding during the day again and has even chose not to come out after lights out a couple of evenings. But other than that he looks completely good and was anxious for his 1 rat pup and 1 small adult mouse f/t for yesterday evenings dinner. Maybe I'll wait a few days before changing out the substrate and see if he becomes a little more active again.

You're right. I thought about the shed thing but don't see any other signs of it. His eyes are clear of course and his colors are still vibrant. Just a phase probably.

Really it's a very scary thing to think your carpet could start exhibiting BP behavior (actually this would be non behavior) permanently. lol now if he starts refusing meals I mean I couldn't take it. [emoji51]

Nothing to worry about. My coastal mutt will go into her hide for a few days on end and become inactive. Then she will switch modes and move endlessly during the night into the morning hours. She will often come out mid day and rest on top of her hide.
I think within the next week or two you'll see activity again.
Here is what I'm talking about. (These are older pics)
Some floor time.

Then the all night party.

You've got a beautiful snake, and I'd be very, very surprised if things didn't start to pick up in the next couple of weeks.
BTW, I just switched to Repti-Bark as well. I have not noticed a behavioral change.

Thanks for the encouragement and info on the reptbark Gio. I think you are right in that this is just a phase he is going through. It's tough having all young and small snakes that feel vulnerable and therefore stay hidden. I can't wait until they are older and larger and more comfortable and confident and out and about more.

You hit the nail on the head T. They're just young and insecure. I'm sure you'll see more of them as they grow. I rarely see my young Bredli or the new jungle mutt. I still have to lift their hides to feed them . I got the Bredli in early March and the mutt 2 weeks ago. Contrast that with my 2014 Coastal and 2015 male JCP who are both out perching almost every night. They've both been with me since last September. It's fun watching them grow but sometimes it's frustrating too because you want to see more of them :).

Re: Edith
My little girl (weighed her yesterday - 62 gms) is out most of the time, usually curled up by her rock or the fake greenery. When it gets dark she goes all over the place. She seems to like being out but hangs pretty close to me. She had a really good shed and eats quite well (not as crazy as the boa but that's ok). She actually ate for the first time off of the tongs last week. Unlike the boa, who almost pulls you into his enclosure, she gently grabbed her food and pulled it into her hide.

Re: Edith
I can see them when I go through the threads and I see them in your quote. Wonder if I'm copying the wrong URL for my pics.

You were right reinz. I should have never doubted it. A couple of days ago his coloring was vibrant and today it's very dull and he is in blue. Hopefully this is the reason and he has not contracted the dreadful ballpythonscullyidous. [emoji12]

Good deal, it's always reassuring to know the reasons behind their behavior:)

Oh yes he is most definitely in blue.. I always love it when they shed. It's exciting to see them afterwards and you know they are growing.
