Can I use UTH in plastic tub?
Am I able to to this, I'm really worried though. Lots have people have told me no that it'll burn through the tub and the snake also. I've only had my ball python for week and I've just been using a light as a heat source for him, but that isn't doing the job, plus it's stressing him out a lot.

    What do you guys think?

You need to use a thermostat with the UTH.

do not put it IN the tub, but UNDER the tub with a thermostat.

Yes you can use a Uth being regulated with a t stat. That being said a Uth will NOT have an effect on your ambient temps.

It isnt a problem. Think of it this way, regulated, it shouldnt get hotter than 95 degrees or so to make the hot spot the proper temp. If you have a laser thermometer, you can check and see that your palm is about 95 degrees. Unless you're melting plastic with your hand, no problem. To melt through plastic it would probably have to be upwards 140 degrees for a long time I'd think.

Plastics dont melt until about 170 degrees depending on composition. A regulated UTH with a tub is no different than a tub sitting on heat tape with a thermostat.

With the thermostat that the UTH is plugged into.

you can try a Ultratherm Vivarium Heaters (UTH's) , they have a laminate, very low wattage usage that being said, i think they're better used on a proportional thermostat than an off and on one, with the on and off theromostat once it reaches the desired temp it will shut off and these take a little longer to heat back up ,so temps are inconsistent, being very low wattage. the company says you can use them without a thermostat and they wont over 100 deg, but PLEASE do not try that, always use thermostat even if its an of and on one.
