Update on the weird Banana Fire
I hope some people still remember this weirdo. He hasn't eaten in three weeks for some reason but his colours are coming in quite nicely. I'm still dumbfounded on what is causing his pattern.

Very nice Fire Banana. I've seen Fire's with the same pattern before. Very strong representation of the gene

Nice looking snake you got there. I would love to see him father some banana cream combos

What do you mean his pattern? It looks like any other banana fire I have ever seen? Maybe I am missing something? Either way, nice snake. You can never go wrong with a banana!

He was from a banana x super fire pairing that produced two banana fires and his brother looked like a what most banana fires i've seen looked like. Maybe i'm missing something but I have looked at countless fires nd banana fires trying to find one that looks exactly, if not similar, to him. Do you happen to haveany pictures of the banana fires in question? i'd like to finally have an answer to his pattern xD

What do you think is wrong with his pattern?

His dorsal looks like my CH boy, Lue. I was told it was called 'Harlequin', or something like that, but doesn't prove hereditary - just an anomaly. Very handsome snake!

Well I mean, this is his brother from the same pairing:

Sorry for the small pics, it's from a few months ago from the original breeder. Comparing this one to the one I have, there's clearly a huge difference even though the genetics are the same wouldn't you think so? I'm not saying that it's genetic or anything but I'm just wondering if something similar has popped up in other people's collection or if they have seen something similar or exactly like my banana fire.

That was one of the theories going around a few months ago, and I didn't know Harlequins aren't genetic. Thanks for that c:

IMO, it's a randomly thrown pattern. Mind you, it's a wicked cool random pattern, but random just the same. I'd be happy to have him in my rack :gj:

There is a monogenic Harlequin, I see NERD produce a bunch of them, however there are far more polygenic harlequin looking animals. its not uncommon to see a striped fire, I think the banded ones are more in demand though. If you google fire ball python, you can see its tendency to stripe a lot of combos. unless one of the parents also had a harlequin pattern I would see no reason to think it is anything other than a polygenic pattern. where i see it a lot is just normal wild caught animals.
