Tiny carpet cobra

Re: Tiny carpet cobra
Beautiful carpet Aerial. Gotta love that attitude huh? I have 3 carpets now, another being delivered next week, and I'm working on a 5th (Diamond x Jungle) now. They're addictive I tell you! I just realized that all of this has happened since September 2015. :snake::snake::snake::snake::snake:

Quite the gorgeous little jewel there AA!
They are addicting indeed. When I laid eyes on the first picture of a Jungle that I saw here it was love at first sight. And then when I went to pick up my first Carpet, a Coastal because I could not find any Jungles around here, I was hooked. That intense, fun, interaction just knocked me over.
Too bad I don't have the room for at least one of each, for if I did.......
Congrats Aerial! :)

Very nice carpet Aerial. And you're right, 2 carpets is not enough. I know because I have only 2 and ziggy and reinz don't make staying pat any easier.

Re: Tiny carpet cobra
Same here, I'd like more carpets, too! But I'm also not willing to get rid of my others, especially my spotted python. [emoji4]

They are quite something :) Will post updates as she grows and calms down lol

They are. in my opinion, one of the best display snakes you can get.
Semi but VERY arboreal in the right setup, busy on most days doing something, not shy, and fun to handle.
I can't really pick between boas and carpets when it comes to a favorite, however at the moment if I could add another snake, I'd get a Bredli carpet.
Enjoy your snakes, and if you want the ultimate out of your carpets, set them up in a display cage.
You won't regret it when you see this type of behavior almost every night.

I agree! I have both my carpets in tubs for now as they grow, but they're tall tubs setup with perches, ladders, hammocks, etc. They are busy girls and a joy to watch.

LET ME LOVE YOU lol:rolleyes:

I left her alone and gave her two meals(she eats like a champ) over two weeks, but she still wants to light me up. I've started short, quiet handling sessions a few times a week. Hoping she calms down soon.
Am I weird that I enjoy the attitude? Haha. My balls never follow through and my boas are puppies. I guess I like the challenge. One day she will love me ;)

Re: Tiny carpet cobra
It is really foggy where she lives. lol. My young coastal was a little defensive at first, nipping, peeing and musking but it didn't last very long. My baby jungle has never done any of this.

Attitude is fun.
I have been bitten by my BC and carpet, but never the royal.
The carpet has tried more than the BC.
I found with handling the carpet calmed quickly.
I'm not sure why, but I find the Aussie snakes in general some of the most confident snakes around.
They seem to be OK with people after they get to adult size. I know there are scrub pythons and some olives that will disagree, so maybe I should limit it to carpets LOL.
I can't even get my coastal girl to bite me. I have disturbed her for handling in situations I'd never try with my BC and he is a good boy too.

She's never tried to musk or pee on me, thank goodness! I'll take the bites over that any day!
My other girl has an attitude - she'll huff and headbutt when she's not in the mood to be handled, but rarely bites and is getting mellower as she puts on size. My friend got a bredli around the same age as this little girl and she is the sweetest. One thing is for sure, carpets are never boring!

Re: Tiny carpet cobra
My little girl was quite a bit cage defensive when I first got her but she is a sweety now and it didn't take too long. I would use two hands to get her out - one to distract her and the other hand would be gently picking her up. She's a bit of a sook and hangs onto me quite closely. I have her out a lot and she climbs on everything but she is so fast that I can't take an eye off of her for a second. They are a beautiful snake and I would like to have, at least, on more, perhaps an Irian Jaya. I still get a kick out of her long, skinny tail (and how she wraps it around everything).
P.S. It took me a while to figure out your title - "tiny carpet cobra" but it makes sense after reading through your threads.
