Would you all feel comfortable keeping a male blood python in an Iris CB-70 rack by Reptile Basics? (Friend and I are debating this)

I'm guessing no! I don't have Bloods yet but some of my female Balls are almost too big for their CB-70 tubs.

For the first couple of years. I have three young Bloods in a rack similar to that right now. They are literally pet rocks and never move. Mine will be needing a new home this year but they have been fine in the rack so far. I have been growing them slow though so I may have gotten more use out of my rack than some others might have.

If you get the Blood young you will need something smaller than its forever home that it will need once fully grown. A rack can work just fine for that as long as you understand it will need a much larger home later.

What size will you keep yours in as fully grown adults?

    I'd say 48 x 24 for an adult

My big girl is 6ft and 30 something lbs. She is in a pvc cage that is 48in x 24in x 15in. She is right at home in it with a cool side and a warm side with a uth. The other will be getting something very similar. One of them may even get the exact same as I currently have one vacant.

Might want to custom make a rack for them.

For a full grown blood look into VE175 tubs made by Iris, they are sold around Christmas as tree boxes.

You can build your rack or have Animal Plastic build one for the dimension of this tub.

Kara and Ryan Norris use those racks for breeding.

I have kept a 28 lbs male in one of those tubs without issues.

Good to know, thank you Deborah. I would be okay with having them in a cage, as well. I need to do some research and see if I can find cages which have LED lights that the snakes cannot tear down. I had animal plastics cages at one time, which had fluorescent lights in them-- these heated the cages up quite a bit and were easily destroyed by the snakes. Eventually I sold the cages because I was so pissed off with them. My friend found these cages that were supposed to be fully functional, heated cages with LED lights and sliding doors, but the dimensions once she bought them were way smaller than advertised due to the sliding door and the guy was kind of flaky about stuff. He forgot to send locks, etc. So I had been looking at those, but now have backed off.

Anyone know of any PVC cage companies that sell cages with installed LED lights that the snakes can't destroy??

Also... got any pics of fully grown blood pythons, the "big guys?"

I have a PVC cage from Constrictors NW and I use an LED light strip I got off of amazon. It has lots of different colors controlled by a remote and it doesn't produce much heat at all. The only down side was the adhesive backing that it comes with. The 3M adhesive isn't well suited for that environment and could be hazardous to the snake. I used hot glue along the sides and it has held firm for about 6 months now.

I checked out the rack made by Animal Plastics for the AE175 tubs. It was much more than I need with a heated room, but looks really nice with some great features.

I have an Economy model that has worked great so I sent an email earlier today asking if they could make a Economy model style rack that would hold three or four AE175 tubs. In true AP fashion I got a response just a bit ago. Unfortunately at this time they do not have the ability to do what I asked. As they have not tested a design to make sure such large tubs with large snakes would be safe. They said they do hope to get to it in the future but could not say when that may be.

I really like the look of the AE175 tubs and think they would be much better to house my Bloods in than the PVC cage my big girl is currently in. Her movements are just to big and hard to clean in her cage. A tub that could be removed and cleaned outside would be very welcomed by me. I may design myself a DIY rack that will fit my needs and put all four of my Bloods in their own rack.

Then I would have two open PVC cages. Now what to do about that!?!:snake::snake:

This is an older pic of my big girl.

I thought AP had LED lights as an option, but hadn't gotten it on the website yet? Or am I mis-remembering? Maybe it was they'll install if you send the lights.
