Warning: SouthernHerper (aka GroundPounder) Scammer - FC Link
My husband and I responded to the 14 Pied Lot ad, actually SENT money, and had it refunded because he said it had a 21 day Hold placed on it, but told my husband on the phone that the payment took off 2.7% paypal fees, essentially eating the shipping cost, which was not kosher with the seller - he asked us to resend the funds as a gift, or to break it up so that a 21 day hold wouldn't be placed - we do not do business that way. Inconsistencies in information provided over messages and by phone, inability to find any kind of footprint for the LLC, and other suspicious behavior eventually led my husband to locate the following BadGuy posting on Fauna Classifieds. I'm incredibly sad to have to post this, but also incredibly grateful that we didn't just get scammed out of 2 grand. He stated that he had another potential buyer lined up if our deal fell through - so in case anyone on this forum is interested in his animals, buyer beware.
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...=286319&page=1
SouthernHerper goes by Dustin Draper, confirmed one of the phone numbers in FC post matches the number being used to contact us, also received emails from his wife's email account.
Should I post a full account on FC/BOI, or is there enough information out there already, do you think?
-
Can you post all of the contact info that was used please?
Also I would update the FC thread rather than starting another one, or if you do start a new one include the seller's contact info with a link to the same info from the other thread in it.
-
That's false information.
-
I have the shipping label, snakes and everything ready to ship as we discussed.
-
OMG! Dustin Draper! eeeww yuck!
i remember reading a BOI about him over some rare monitor lizard scam over at Fauna when i joined the site. he has multiple accounts, each of them banned. i recall he is currently serving a one year ban over there and if he creates another account, he would be perma-banned. i guess he is now looking for targets on other forums and venues.
thanks for the heads up Aercadia! i'm sorry u went through this.
Edit: here's the link to the monitor lizard scam thread - http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=536717
-
The OP failed to express their concerns to me or my co workers prior to this thread. It's quite sad as we were shipping the animals in question today just as we had discussed. They were ready to ship through FedEx with the tracking number and everything in order.
However my prior employment with a bad business before my split seems to discourage them. This was never brought to my attention as it very well should have been. And the use of PayPal protects us both and is linked to our bank account.
If the OP had concerns, then we are just a phone call away.
-
When in doubt, walk away.

There is NO protection if the money is sent as a gift as you requested.

Re: Warning: SouthernHerper (aka GroundPounder) Scammer - FC Link
Might be interesting to see a picture of these 14 pieds and three anacondas.
-
Interweb information travels quick.
This is why people should research ANYONE before sending funds.
-
Contact information used outside BP.net messaging:
Christina Draper - cdraper658@gmail.com
Christina Davis - sandhillreptilesllc@gmail.com
Dustin Draper - (678) 368-9222
We asked for pictures of all 14 pieds - we received pictures of 4 (and presumed Dam) from the 658 email.
An "example picture" of a fire lucy which was to be thrown in "as a bonus" was sent from the LLC email.
Payment was sent, refunded, and did not show up back on my CC immediately, so a second attempt at payment could not be made. We were to attempt payment again (in broken up payments) and my husband discussed them holding the animals if another hold was placed on the funds. We did not send a second payment, instead after discussing between ourselves and finding the CL information, we called the deal off and I posted this thread.
There is no reason that the animals should be ready to ship and a label should be ready if payment was not processed. My husband blocked the phone number rather than calling and explaining to a scammer that we would not be completing the deal. He is the more reasonable and level headed of the two of us, and in his zen, has decided that this person is not worth the trouble. I AM PISSED.

You should be pissed, I hate scammers too. The waste of time bothers me even more than the money. My policy has been pictures of Mom, Dad and snake(s) available for purchase ever since someone tried to scam me awhile back. If they are even slightly hesitant to produce the pics I am out of there. You guys were smart and got out of the deal. Be happy about that.
-
Well Deb you beat me to it...lol
also: its funny how its always pieds and anacondas. You'd think he would lose the "southern" section of his handle... and change the morph. But I suppose people who tell tales have to keep them similar, so they don't forget them.

Yeah, I really wanted to see a picture of those anacondas too ROFL. Deborah sunk his boat. I really wanted him to hang himself a little better before he was totally outed. If all the BOI stuff is true this guy needs to be in jail.
-
I love the sound of the "Ban-Hammer" dropping....
-
Buyer volunteered the idea of splitting up the payment. Neither I nor any of my coworkers hold I'll will towards Dan or his wife. We feel that they jumped the gun on this situation as my time and energy was wasted. Us being a new company does not warrant speculation when all the business that we have conducted has been more than professional and customer service has been more than stellar.
Dan... I'm sincerely sorry that you feel the way you do. Furthermore, id like to know what "suspicious" behavior you are referring to. Maybe wishing your family a Happy Easter is suspicious and unprofessional these days :confusd:
-
Those individuals listed there are past co workers. I own and operate my own business which is Sand Hill Reptiles. I refuse to argue or stoop to a lower level. I was associated with those people, which was ultimately a mistake.

Those past co-co workers are all and the same Dustin Draper and Christina Davis who over the last 9 years have used many ID & emails.
Now the funny thing is why would a "legitimate" business would use the phone number and email address of known scammers/former co-workers (Dustin Draper and Christina Davis Draper), that does not make much sense does it? Latest scam was on fauna just a few months back, same email address.
Is that the best explanation you can come up with?
Quote:
I refuse to argue or stoop to a lower level.
Translation I got caught again and can't get out of that one.
For the record your ads have been removed and you are now on borrowed time on this forum, just enough for you to try to explain yourself and you are not doing good.
-
1. I own a legitimate business.
2. No. I dont have any aliases.
3. The names listed with the exception of Dustin Draper and Christina Draper are past co workers which have since been seperate from me.
4. The phone number is the businesses number for the moment until we get the building and shop set up. As stated above, the company is a new company.
If you feel the need to ban me then feel free. But let me ask you a question first. What would the ban be based off of? Speculation? Paranoia? Or stupidity? It would have to be one of those 3 because there is no other reason.
-
No on on here has been ripped off and we use PayPal only or credit cards when the shop doors are opened soon. So feel free to attack me all you want, BC when it boils down to it, we are entitled to file suit as we are officially an entity protected by certain laws when it comes to losses based on your speculation and big mouth spreading slanderous remarks about our company when our business is 100% above board.

So you admit being Dustin Draper?
The names & ID listed DO NOT exist they were created by Dustin Draper so how can they be your past co-workers? Imaginary co-workers?

thought you refused to stoop to lower levels now you are making threats of a lawsuit??
kinda proves the point right there
hey just askin here but what was the original deal for the pieds if i brought cash to your door could you produce them? or were they stolen too?
-
Re: Warning: SouthernHerper (aka GroundPounder) Scammer - FC Link
Seems to me the quickest and easiest way to prove the seller is legit is for him to post the A: corporation papers since they are a new registered business. B: pictures of all 14 pieds. C: the shipping boxes and labels since they are already ready D: a reasonable explanation as to why the email and phone numbers are connected to a credible business. The first 3 of those ought to be very simple to produce.

Keep in mind that can backfire on you too with more of a loss out of your pocket than you think.
As far as PayPal goes, How do they like you bypassing service fees with gifting and using them for the sale of animals?
Making veterans look bad one post at a time.....

Re: Warning: SouthernHerper (aka GroundPounder) Scammer - FC Link
I don't threaten. But we are a legitimate business and we will seek legal action if necessary for losses.
By all means bring cash and the snakes will be yours. The deal was 14 pieds for $2060.00 as we need the room for ongoing projects. Payment was to be made via pay pal as discussed. They were being shipped today. Buyer backed out after they were boxed up. I was going to send him the tracking number and ship as soon as payment was received.
I refunded them for a very good reason. I could have accepted and waited for 21 days. However a buyer could file dispute after receiving animals and get a refund. Then id obviously be out payment as well as animals.
I even went so far as to suggest bank transfer since we both bank with wells Fargo... That was declined by buyer. Obviously scamming in that manner would guarantee prison. Either way you look at it, there was no funny business going on. Just simple business. Now since I elaborated about the situation, if anyone has further questions by all means ask.
-
It wasn't the service fees that were the problem. It was the hold which would put the transaction at a standstill until after 21 days that I was trying to bypass.

Evidence :gj:
Email registration cdraper658@gmail.com which is linked to Christina Draper which is linked to your last scam attempt on Fauna.
Are you still denying being Dustin Draper??? Or would you rather not answer that question. (apparently you chose to to address my last comment)
Can you prove who you are and post a copy of your business licence since you are a registered LLC (this will indeed prove that you are a legitimate business owner and also prove your ID).

YOUR past and present actions are on you here and in a court of law.
What losses can you prove that were/are cause by anyone other than you?
And yes you still attempted to violate PalPals TOS.
-
I am Dustin draper. Never said I wasn't. And sandhillreptilesllc@gmail.com is not Christina. It is me. I never said my name was anything other than what it was. Right alongside my PayPal account.

Go for it. I'll give your lawyer my name, address, and whatever other information he or she needs. They'll likely laugh you out of there office as most folks here already have. While you're at it, you might as well get Amazon, Walmart, Autozone, eBay, and every other site that I've ever left negative remarks on. I've spread plenty of slanderous remarks on those sites too for bad business behavior.
Now you see... IF a person was trying to startup a reputable business, they would be going out of their way to make things right, or advertise their business in a positive fashion. It seems you just want to argue and make yourself out to be the victim. Sure, we don't know what all happened with the "pied sale". You know what... even if a buyer backed out while you were at the FedEx store... they're still your snakes. you take them home, and re-advertise them. Things happen. IF you want to run a REAL business, that stuff is going to happen. I know people who have been selling things all their lives and have had great and horrible experiences, and I've never seen anyone act like you're acting. You're lucky I'm not a site admin here, or you wouldn't have been around long enough to have a 4 page thread.
But that's just me... and my slanderous remarks that I use to prevent businesses from making money....
-
I've already been to court in regards to my previous employer. They went to jail. I did not. That's in the past. If you live in the past then you wont have much of a future. :)

It's not that serious. And its perfectly fine that they changed their mind. I'm not sure what you are getting at, but I'm answering simple questions.

Your going to have a difficult time proving losses based on this post. Again an easy way to prove your a legitimate business would be to post pictures of all 14 pieds and the boxes/shipping labels along with your llc information. That would go a lot further than making threats and would resolve the issue entirely. If you are legitimate, as you say, it is content that you should be able to produce immediately.

Well there it is, le’ts be CRYSTAL CLEAR because you have not used this forum as your scamming ground yet does not mean we were born yesterday, you have been scamming people since 2007 and your latest scam was only a few months ago after a pathetic attempt at redemption in your Fauna thread, obviously you have not changed and never will and YOU and Christina are not welcome here.
So goodbye

To clarify the email issue, here is how the two emails came through and were labeled/titled when I received them - I did not enter names for the sender, gmail auto-assigned the names of the known account owners.

Can you pick out what the addresses actually are? Usually if you do a "show headers" on your email you can find it.
If you find them post them here - as text - so that search engines will pick them up.

Re: Warning: SouthernHerper (aka GroundPounder) Scammer - FC Link
Just to add to the thread and confirm more discrepancies, I could find no "Sand Hill Reptiles" registered as a corporation with the Georgia Secretary of State. Also, I could not find any corporation where Dustin Draper was registered as an officer or agent. I think he needs to look up the definition of "legitimate".

I realize this is a necro post but this same scammer tried again on FC using the name John Buhs. IP addresses show him in south Texas (Brownsville & McAllen area).
