The wait is over!
We have eggs! Tex laid early this morning. Poor girl looks like an inner tube with the air let out. Got 6 good eggs and two slugs. The good ones are all full of veins. Really pleased as this is her first clutch.

0.1 Super Black Pastel and two possible sires. First is 1.0 Pied, and the second is 1.0 Mojave Yellow Belly. Hoping for a clutch of Black Pastel Hets, but I never saw any locks with the Pied. He did spend 3 days with her 4 times so it could have happened. Definite locks with the MYB. Either way I'll be happy though.

Congratulations on your snake seeds!! Now the wait begins... again. :)

Congrats ....waiting for eggs is bad enough waiting for them to pip is worse. ;)

Nice pearly whites there! How are you planning on figuring out which Black Pastels are in fact hets?
-
Re: The wait is over!
Well Eric, that's the million $$$ question. If the all come out Black Pastel I feel I can be reasonably sure they're hets. If it's a mixed bag, who knows. Guess I'll have to keep a male if I get one and try and prove it out in a year. Of course with a double sired clutch there is no way of really know till then. Maybe I'll get really luck and have a clutch with markers though. That'd at least help.

Do you plan on selling them or holding them all back? Although with a super black pastel mom I'm sure plenty of people will pay for them with that chance of being het for pied.

Re: The wait is over!
I'll hold one back. Male hopefully if it's Black Pastel. The rest I'll sell. I don't think I'll advertise them as hets though unless it's obvious. If I have a question about their genetics, I'm not going to say one way or the other. Seems like the right thing to do.

this might be true but when you are waiting for them to pip you at least know you have eggs, I am at day 38 after the pre-lay shed now and still waiting for my first clutch ever and it is making me insecure and it is driving me crazy haha

I'd still at least mention in the ad the possibility of het pied. You can charge whatever you want for a snake, but that info at least will help move them quicker. Hell I'd probably buy a female if you were local and they all were just black pastel.

Oooh - nice! At least if they all come out with Mojave or Yellowbelly as well as Black Pastel, you'll know who the sire was - but with any that are just Black Pastel will be a mystery! Even if others have Mojave or YB, could be a mixed clutch. I'll be watching - I've been wanting to get a Black Pastel female, just can't decide what else I want in it.
