Anyone have bps that refuse f/t but take prekilled?
My snakes absolutely refuses f/t but i have not tried prekilled. Anyone have bps that refuse f/t but take prekilled?

Work your way down if you want to get to f/t. Start live, then down to fresh killed, until you can get them to take frozen.

Yea my BP does. I think its because I have a hard time getting the temps up on the frozen because he always seems interested but never takes. Another interesting thing I've noticed, I know that there is a lot of debate on this, but my BP slams rats that aren't all white. All of the f/t rats I've tried to feed him are all white. Could be a coincidence but maybe try to play around with the colors.

Offer it on tongs. The reason being is that your bp will get tongs=food then you can offer it f/t on tongs. It took me about 12 pre killed to get mine to switch to f/t.

Ok thanks. Just out of curiosity what is your method of prekilling? Co2 chamber?
Re: Anyone have bps that refuse f/t but take prekilled?
No I use a method called cervical dislocation. It's easy and doesn't cost any money unlike CO2. This is the video that I used to learn http://youtu.be/opwXJ7MgjPE It is kinda hard to get past the mental part. It took me 5 min to break the mental barrier on killing the rat when I first did it. Now if you REALLY want to go and spend money on CO2, get dry ice from a store, get a styrofoam cooler, get a mouse carrier cage (the ones that are plastic with holes). Put the dry ice on one side of the cooler (don't touch it with your hands, use tongs) then on the other side put the mouse/rat in the carrier. The dry ice will have filled the cooler with CO2 and have killed it. This method is expensive and usually only used if you are killing a lot of mice at one time.

Just to add to this you may also need to do the "zombie dance" moving the prey around to mimic that its still living. Another advantage to tongs.

Lol i think ill use the co2 method since rats freak me out so i want least of amount of contact possible and i need it for small and medium rats. Thanks for your help!

co2 method is pretty easy. If you dont want to build a whole contraption, a plastic box, a cup of water and dry ice will do the trick.
I feel like if your snake will eat f/k it will eat f/t. Are you heating up the f/t enough?

I have not tried f/k yet. If she takes f/k i will try f/t again after a few feedings.

I've killed about 24 rats/mice using cervical dislocation and have never degloved an animals tail. If you are holding the tail at the base firm and don't hesitate while pulling it won't happen.
