    My Kofiau Pair
    Hi Guys,

I purchased this Kofiau pair recently.

Male: Yellow individual, 2016 import, farm product. Has sub-dermal bumps due to parasites, which are dead now. Apparently these bumps will stay unless they are surgically removed but gets barely noticeable when the animal is full grown. He is small now and should be ready to breed 17/18 with decent feeding I assume. I hope he stays yellow :) ...

Female: Green individual with yellow belly scales. She was supposed to be yellow most of her life but changed color but no photos so who knows. 2015 import, has been in captivity for over a year.

Both fed immediately on frozen/thawed mice so no feeding problems at all. I am excited for these guys.

I have no experience with gtp's but I always thought pure kofiau islands always stayed fully yellow into adulthood? Nice green trees though either way!

No, unfortunately not really. There are some nice blues that come out of Kofiau as well and all Kofiau GTPs can turn green anytime in their adult lifes. Happens a lot with females when breeding hormones kick in.

They are quite bitey, especially if you try to pick them up from perches at night. That also stresses them a lot. One way to do it is to remove the perch with the snake and let them treat you like a branch. That works a lot better.

Fed them yesterday, great eaters. I will have a nice video next week.

Thanks! Those markings have a purple tinge as well, really cool.

I think I shot a very cool video this week of the yellow Kofiau Morelia viridis... I need to use this camera more for video it seems:

She is a beautiful snake. She should make a great mate for your male.

    Thanks for the video! :)

Yellow just ate and is doing great. Very skittish though, strikes the glass unprovoked, shows all the signs of a wild caught animal. He is farm bred of course but these farms are not that far away form
    the jungle environment I think...

    So this happened!:

    http://imageshack.com/a/img924/6482/fR3A3x.jpg

Took about 2 weeks within once shed cycle. Now the question is degree of yellow that is going to remain...

So the yellow male from Kofiau turned green within 3 weeks. Significant loss in monetary value but he still looks amazing:

He is amazing but I liked him better. I am a sucker for yellow snakes.

He is farm bred so they are parasites. Medication killed them but only surgery can remove the worms and the abscess, which is unnecessary stress on the snake.

Interesting! They wouldn't decompose in there or anything? I've seen similar bumps in a wild caught vine snake, I guess it also had parasites.

I truly have no idea but I have heard them being removed ages after treatment. They will probably end up being a cyst after a while.

Here is the male, kept some of his yellow:

Nothing came of the previous set of matings but the male went off feed again so they are together one more time:
