Re: Breeding project advice
Congrats on starting your own little project!
I DEFINITELY recommend going ahead and getting a female pied to start raising up for your banana pied project.
I agree, cinnamon bananas are great, and getting a cinnamon combo would be another great female. Even if you don't like the look of banana pewters, or certain potential offspring regardless of the pairing, you can always just hold back the animals you like the most! The beautiful thing about this hobby is that everything is based on what is appealing to you!
Whatever you decide make sure that you are passionate about those projects :)

Get a cinnamon enchi female, and a pied or a CG het pied and save lots of time, not money...lol

Get a female CG/banana het pied? Wow that would definitely set me back a decent chunk. As for the cinnamon enchi idea, it's quite hard to find morphs like that for a reasonable price here in the UK but if I waited I'm sure one would pop up for a good price.
I think I'll try and get a adult female pied if I see the right one as even banana het pieds are going for lots of money at the moment (let alone visual banana pieds) so they would help fund my next project.
Re: Breeding project advice
If you are new to the hobby I would recommend raising up a female from a hatchling. It gives you experience and time to learn and observe as much as possible about the species before you begin breeding attempts.
If you are wanting to produce babies as fast as possible, you are in the hobby for the wrong reasons. Just my :twocents:

Re: Breeding project advice
Thanks for the advice. I've already owned a ball Python and raised it to an adult before so I have some experience. I'm just trying to get back into the hobby, and I do prefer owning a nice big snake anyway, don't get me wrong, I love all sizes of ball pythons.
Re: Breeding project advice
I have also noticed that animals I purchase as adults can be much more difficult to get breeding than animals I raise up. They have a longer period of adjustment to the way things are done at my house vs the previous owner.

That does look nice, I'll definitely consider getting a calico girl.
Re: Breeding project advice
Congrants on your banana bee franklin. I know how it is you gotta have a bee heck i got two. For breeding ideas i'd go with calico/sugar for sure and their fairly inexpensive depending on how lucky you get. I got lucky and nabbed my sugar bee for only 225 he claimed he made a mistake with the price and honored what the ad said. Mike Collins on kingsnake good guy, good bp's. As for the banana het pied idea your gonna need another het pied or visual to go with that so theres that to consider. I don't know how deep your wallet is but i know a breeder buddy who's got a coral glow het pied for 600 maybe get something like that and then a cheap normal het pied and see what happens. Thanks for the pic galaxygirl it's good to see any thing banana/calico related i don't see enough their such a great combo. Here's my sugar bee to help in any inspiration you might get regarding sugar/calico. I got her to pair with my banana boy some day and shot for some nana sugar stuff.:gj: People are gonna think banana sugar is a dessert or something lol.http://ball-pythons.net/gallery/file..._07_31_pro.jpg
Re: Breeding project advice
Yeah the calico idea is quite tempting!
I'm in the UK and to buy a banana het pied, your looking at paying £550+ which is around $800 I think. So buying a nana het is not really appealing to me as I could just buy a female pied for much cheaper than the het and make them myself.

What about a banana sugar pied or banana cinnamon pied haha
Re: Breeding project advice
Oh your in the uk that's a different ball park... well then sugar it is lol with europe preferring them and all. They got to have some really nice sugar's over there i know i've seen some. You live in Europe so to me sugar is a no brainer. Also forget the coral glow het pied idea as well 600 here even more there but again i didn't know your budget. So good luck on your picks. And banana sugar pied and banana cinnamon pieds lol nice

That's actually not true, sugar morphs are quite rare here and I would definitely say there are more calicos about. I can't speak for the whole of Europe though as most of us in the UK buy our snakes from UK breeders.
Re: Breeding project advice
Hi. There is a person selling a pewter and a super pastel female near me, doing a good deal on the two.
Do you guys think that they are a good project for breeding or should I try and differentiate my females a bit to allow for diversification of offspring?
Ps I really like Banana Super Pastels from the pics I've seen on wobp.
