    Sid's Pregression Thread (Why not?)
Granted I just got this guy yesterday, I was able to take a picture as he was gripping around my hand for warmth before placing him in his tub. Sid is a 2015 pinstripe Male BP. Not sure on the hatch date but I will try to get that. I hope to bombard y'all with more pictures in a week or so of how Sid is doing, mainly for my own sake. He is currently 16-17 inches long, the weight is yet to come as I don't want to stress him out. When the previous owner handed him to me he was a bit defensive but soon relaxed and got out of the ball and "s" shape and sprawled himself out. Got him home nicely, kept the car warm, and put him in his tub immediately as I got through the door. Humidity seems to be dong better than I expected. The only issues I seem to have run into is that he's a tad bit too big for the hides so he pokes out a bit and he can push them around. The other issue is that no one heats the house, so I'll sneakily turn it back up to at least 68 and I got cheap under tank heaters (my bad, going to get higher quality ones either today or tomorrow) that don't seem to heat through the thin substrate very well. Everything seems to be sorting itself out. http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l...pss9vkdgl4.jpg

sweet! i like his colors. i need a Pinstripe or Pinstripe combo in my life.

u can make a DIY hide outta plastic pots and planters. (or even cardboard box for a quick temporary fix) as for heating, get a space heater. u can heat an individual room rather than your whole house.

congrats. i can't wait to see more pix.

I got back an estimate for Sid's hatch date(Which is July or August of 2015). That's way more helpful than just knowing the year. I love thinking(And looking) of all the possible combos I could make with this guy, especially with his light coloring.

He may look cute but he's a drama king, but that is how I expect most youngins to be. He was sweet during the transitions. However, when I went to change out his hides, he threw a hissy fit. Granted, he likes to push them around but he's all cozied up and settled, doing what Ball Pythons should be doing. I spent days and days searching for that "perfect" name. Turns out, all I had to do was watch Ice Age.

I'll trade you him for Yackle, lol. Just kidding, I could never get rid of this little guy. I just bought some plastic pots today and they are doing the trick. I'll look into getting a space heater.

Well, Sid dumped his water dish everywhere. Lucky me, aha. Was able to get two more quick shots. Let me tell you, he does not like to stay still when out and about (Only for about 3 minutes while I took the picture and put everything back into his tub).

I will gladly take one of her "ugly" offsprings. On snake number one and I still want tons more XD. The Leopard Pin and Kingpin are both amazingly gorgeous. Hard to pick but I've got time to think about it. I guess whichever gorgeous female comes my way that isn't a heterozygus morph(Although, I'll take a Piebald or Clown any day), just to steer clear from the Pin hets to get a combined look. Really leaning towards the Leopards. I would like to make a Jigsaw, that really interests me. Spinners too. Can I just have them all please, haha?

Re: Sid's Pregression Thread (Why not?)
No matter what water dish I use, he either knocks it over or somehow gets the paper towel all wet. Why can't he just leave it alone and drink when needed, ugh, aha. Granted, I just squish out the water then let the paper towels dry, and if they are still in good condition, I'll use them again. I'll admit, they don't look as pretty anymore but they get the job done. Not interested in using my snake as a display(BPs aren't very good display snakes anyways, lol). Any advice on how to conquer the water demon? I'm going to pick up some food today for him, see how he takes it. The previous owner didn't feed him much during the winter and said that he should eat nicely. I already have a feeding schedule set up for about every 6-7 days. I will cut back if he gets fat but he should be fine.

my BP's will sometimes knock over/spill water when they're hungry and in search for food (hunting).

a water bowl with a flared, wider base (bottom heavy) than the top will be helpful and harder to knock over. like this:

    http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...XL._SY300_.jpg

or get something low and wide like a reptile specific water dish:

Re: Sid's Pregression Thread (Why not?)
(FEEDING PICTURE INSIDE) We got some rat fuzzies but turns out they didn't want to freeze them. They were freshly "killed". When I got home, the rat pups were still alive! Sid was not interested at first but then got the clue when I picked up the rat pup, thus getting me tagged. There's a first for everything. I do take the blame. He striked again, catching it this time. He didn't do a very good job at squeezing it as it was still struggling when Sid just wanted it to get inside his mouth. I left him too it and before long it was gone and there he was, sitting on the top of his hide. I'm hoping for more good feedings, although, I do have a Ball Python.

I took him outside for a quick photo shoot. I have been giving y'all flash pictures (There is one more but from now on, since the weather is clearing up, you'll have better quality pictures) and it was finally clear out today. It also marks 1 week that I've had Sid. He's been an awesome little guy. It was definitely hard to leave him alone but I managed, haha. It looked like he went into blue on the 14th but he cleared up, I'm hoping this means that he'll shed soon. Hoping for a clean shed.

Happy birthday to me. Sid was causing a commotion early this morning and so I checked out (without disturbing) Sid's tub. He was shedding! It came out in three pieces. No retained eye caps. I probably needed to boost the humidity a bit more but this is awesome for my attempt at doing so.

Did you ever check the weight? Maybe I missed it. Just curious as I have a fire pin hatched 8/27/15 and he seems small at 120g for 6 months old. The breeder had him on small mice. I switched him to rat fuzzies.

I will have to wait a couple of days to weigh him as I just fed him. I will let you know :) It does sound like switching to rat fuzzies was an excellent idea as that is what Sid is currently eating for the meanwhile.

Time for me to catch up. Sid's second meal with me went great. He was used to eating live but he took F/T like there was no tomorrow. I do have some post shed pictures for y'all (The day of the shed). You can blame the bad lighting on the Washington weather and my weird light cover. Also, I got a chance to weigh Sid but I'm pretty sure he felt bothered, so back in he went afterwards.

Sid took his food (F/T Rat Fuzzies) quite easily again on the 26th of Feb. I weighed him again today and had him out on my hand for a bit. He was chill hanging out there. I didn't get pictures of that as my area is currently a mess and warmer weather is yet to come in the state of Washington :p I think I am going to up his food size. Should I go with Rat pups or weaned Rats? The rule can be quite confusing at times but it's more than likely due to me over analyzing.

I have just now realised that I spelled "progression" wrong, haha! My bad. Any who, I have more pics as the weather has gotten warmer (What is this bright yellow thing in the sky? Anyone know?). Sid has hit the 300g mark! Not much of a mark but it's somewhere. Now for the 500g mark, lol. I am so excited to see him grow up. Now, what you all have been waiting for patiently, as I keep on rambling, the pictures!

I'm really behind, aha (7 months to be exact). In that time, we've had some sheds, hide changes, new water dish, and the eating battle. He's approximately 1 year and something months. He did have a regurgitation two weeks ago. I let him settle for a week and hopefully have fixed any husbandry issues. He ate for me three days ago, nothing has come back up. I'll also be starting another thread for my BCI, and actually spell "progression" correctly, lol. I've got some low-grade phone pictures for you of none other than Sid himself.https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...pszaivvrth.jpghttps://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...psjgwcqbr1.jpghttps://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...psmser9ssx.jpghttps://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...pszmfy0qqs.jpghttps://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...psbggqetva.jpghttps://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...ps3ivkpkpc.jpghttps://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...psefr6u3zn.jpg
