    BP Handling 101
There was a lot of conversation in this thread http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...lmost-2-months about how to handle snippy ball pythons. I finally managed to get my act together and shoot a small video.
It's not the best. I had framing issues as I was shooting myself. It was also unscripted and just my rambling thoughts on the matter, so take all that into consideration when you watch it. I think the info is good though, enjoy.

Never tried linking a video here so I hope this works.

    Best,

Fantastic job! I could have used this when I first got Miqula - I eventually just put a gardening glove on and gave her my hand to strike at while I picked her up - I did figure out to pick her up from behind. She declined to strike at the glove, and mellowed out as soon as I got her to eat - but this would have been a fantastic video to have to learn better ways of dealing with her striking.

Great video Dave! I'm going to have my wife watch it when she gets home. We have a super pastel that can be quick to strike. She could use the extra confidence knowing that I'm not just throwing caution to the wind when she sees me handle her.

I got it now, thanks! :)

Well done video Dave. Would make a good sticky for the new folks.

Beautiful Collie too. My favorite breed.

Thanks Reinz. The Collie that got a cameo is Harry. He's my 4th. There was another one padding around. You might have heard her footsteps as I was recording. She's a Sable Smoothie.

Cool, I've only seen pics of Smooths, would like to actually see one.

I'm on numbers 5,6 right now. Ive been thinking about a Smooth for the next, when the time comes. Hopefully that will be a long time before these 3 and 5 year olds pass. Two at one time is my limit with dogs. I tried three once and that was too chaotic for me. :D

Do do you have any pics of your Smooth? If you don't want to continue my :hijackd: , then post in the dog section.

+1 on the sticky. Excellent How To video Dave. I don't have any aggressive snakes now but I will definitely try this if I have any in the future.

Thanks Ax! I may have to do that photo video, but I am sure there are several on there that could as well. As for Pyrrha, yeah I misspoke. Have not had her quite that long but didn't feel a retake was worth correcting it. I had a hard enough time sticking to the message as it was. I'm not used to being on that side of the camera.

To the Admins: Feel free to make this a sticky, or a new thread as a sticky, if you so choose. I'd be honored.

    Best,

    Dave

As a newbie, this would definitely be worth a sticky, I think. My boy isn't nippy or aggressive, but if you don't have a lot of experience handling snakes before you get one it can definitely be intimidating until you get to know your animal :)

Thanks Albert. I had a lot of fun making it despite the framing issues. And yeah, she's pretty quick! You can hear my reaction as I introduce her even walking up to the tub. Cracks me up how she strikes so hard she jumps.
