Which morph?
Going to get my first ball python soon. Its going to be my first snake already have the cage set up and good to go. Question is am going to a reptile show(first one) to look and buy one my snake budget is $200 i know every show is different but what morph to you think i can get with that kind of budget

There are lots... Lessers, Pastels, Spiders, Fires, enchi, the list goes on. You would even be able to get a combination like a bumblebee or Kingpin. There are lots and I guarantee there will be such a variety you will probably spend the whole day choosing from multiple vendors. Do not be too hasty and buy the first you see just because its pretty. Shop around and pick the one you want most.

Re: Which morph?
Bumblebee was my first morph, I really like those! Those should be in your price range. You may be able to get a Champagne, which are nice imo, but get what you like. Most of the single genes will be below $200 unless it's a new morph. There should be some double genes in your price range.

Recent ones I have gone to I saw banana pastels for 175$, albinos 100$, 75$ bumble bees, and butter bees for about 150$:) Oh yeah which one are you going to

Re: Which morph?
Be aware that Spiders and the related morphs can show defects of wobble and worse .....

With a $200 allowance at an expo there are a ton of males you could get and close to that many females.
Age and weight can play a part too.
Are you looking for a pet or possible breeder?

Re: Which morph?
Definitely get something that you are fond of. Just shop around and consider going the "het" route to get the most out of your dollars. If that is something you want to deal with. You may even find a pair of hets for that amount of money.... Double hets.

If you're looking for a pet, definitely just get what you like. Don't worry about Spider wobble/neurological problems in my opinion. You can ask to hold the snake before you buy it. They'll probably be shy, so I wouldn't be concerned about that. Going to a show is one of the most exciting things ever! Get there early!

Are you going to the Orlando expo next weekend?:)

I've heard reports of some appearing fine until they're fed where the wobble is very apparent.

Any stress can bring on a wobble.

In wobble related snakes. Spiders and Champagnes are what I have. I think there are one or two more out there but don't remember for sure.

Re: Which morph?
Just be sure to go with something that you really want. These snakes can live 20+ years, so you want something that you'll enjoy for a long while. I originally just wanted a normal (which I still like), or maybe a lesser and swore that I wasn't going to spend more than $75, then when I went to an expo, I saw so many really cool morphs...I still want to get a pied someday, but they are still far beyond my wallet. I almost went for a pastel butter, but then I saw a little cinnamon mojave on the other side of the breeder's display. He was $100 more than I intended to spend, but I immediately fell in love with the patterns. I still walked around for two more hours just to be sure, and just kept coming back.
I had the advantage of picking out and talking with the breeder first, and had already decided that no matter what morph I got, it would be from that person. I just browsed for hours to make absolutely sure that I didn't see something I liked better in the same price range.
I would also recommend looking at adult pictures of the morphs you like. The first time I saw a pewter hatching, I loved the sliver and white, but then I looked at an adult picture, and they fade to a much browner tone...I don't know which ones fade, but a lot of them seem to change. This way you can be sure you like the colors even as an adult snake.
