Creating new Morph
Hello,
I recently just purchased an Animal Plastics enclosure, and soon I am going to buy a White Diamond female (RussoxRusso). Later this year, I'd like to get another russo-combo male to breed. I noticed on some genetic wizards, combos such as White Diamond x (PastelxRusso) do not yet have any specific morph names for their offspring; the results just read "Pastel, Russo Luestic." Does this mean that this morph has not been made yet (or at least made public)?
Is it feasible that by breeding a White Diamond with another russox(gene) that I could create a morph that has not yet been seen?
I hope this make sense.
Thanks!

Re: Creating new Morph
The site isn't always up to date (Some people don't submit pictures, and it takes a bit of time for pictures to be added), and not everyone comes up with a separate name for genetic combos. I'm sure there's still more to be done with Russos, since it's less popular than mojaves, but I'd put money on the pastel white diamond having already been made.

With a white snake you won't be able to tell what else is at play.

not entirely true. some BEL/white snakes exhibit their patterns under a black light only.

I wonder about the market value of a snake that only shows more pattern under a black light. Would you be able to make more money than any other white snake? If you are concerned about making a new morph your efforts may be better applied somewhere else.

Only with certain patterns.
You would still only prove pastel when breeding.

The only advantage, I could see, is if it's for breeding purposes. For example, a pastel bel has more genes to pass on to their offspring. I realize some patterns show under a black light, but nobody shops morphs based on what they look like under a blacklight.

I'm sorry to say this but coming from ME the guy this forum doesn't like, you think that might be a new morph but guess what, it's out there somewhere...

Just to prove you right........ If the Citrine is out there I would bet there are some Diamonds with a little hidden extra inside. :gj:

Thanks for the responses so far!
Hmmmm, yeah. I saw the Citrine a few days ago.
Any suggestions about what Russo combos you guys have not seen yet? Or combos you think might turn out with an interesting design?
Also, any links to the BPs that look different under black light? I haven't heard of that before.

just run a search for "black light" in the forum toolbar and click on a couple threads.

Re: Creating new Morph
You could mix Russo with some of the newer genes out there - orange dream, blackhead, red gene, red stripes, mahogany...

Re: Creating new Morph
The videos looking at white balls pythons under blacklights were interesting.
Yeah, the mahogany caught my eye. I'll look at into the orange dream, blackhead, red gene, red stripes, etc. morphs. Those are good ideas, thanks!

i work with het. russo. First i try to avoid leucy snakes: i like to know for sure what i hatch.
last year i hatch
-0.1 fire spider het. russo
-1.0 Orange dream fire spider het. russo
-0.1 Orange dream fire het. russo
I plan to shoot at super orange dream het. russo combos. but it simportant to avoid the fire/fire and het. russo/het. russo pairing in that case. i also avoid the lesser and pinstripe pairing because i think spinners won t be nice ( i could be wrong) in super OD combos.
Making something new can be exciting but honestly: those 2 last snakes i mention are most likely world first but they are not as nice as the first one ( fire spider het. russo) which had been made hundreds of time, not as nice as my 2015 favorites which are a firefly OD YB and a simple super pastel enchi.
That said, if you have that diamond and want to make money buy some super lesser/butter. you will hatch full leucy clutches and they sell quite well. But honestly there is no money morph you can make easily with a diamond. Prices are down and just very new morphs , recessive morph and multi gene stunner males sells high price. Plus het. russo are not popular : people prefer to work with mojave or lesser/butter for compatibilties combos : potions, crystal, ghi stuff, enchi stuff, pastel stuff, orange dream stuff.
I like My big girl het. russo ( she is my favorite snake because she has the best personnality) genetically because i had combo targets but now that i have that power house male i just have to wait for my OD and OD combo girls to grow up. And my het. russo might take a year off or breed my baby male OD fire Enchi. But after that pairing ( imagine a super enchi super OD het. russo...) i really have no plan for her. just keep her as a lovely pet.
Just make sure where you are going before hatching babies whom won t find a home. good luck

u shoulda put your Lesser GHI Mojave under black light when u had it. anyway here's a thread comparing the Lesser GHI Mojave to a regular Lesser Mojave: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...Blue-Eyed-Lucy
here's the black light pix...

the Lesser GHI Mojave on the right lacks pattern. pretty cool!
