    Black Pastel Ghost Pinstripe
So I picked this little girl up last week and have not really decided what I'm going to do with her.

    http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/p...psvipte3dh.jpg

She's a beautiful snake no doubt, but she was sold as a male. I drove 2 hours to get her and was like "yeah I guess I'll take her anyway". Now I did get her for a crazy low price, but I was supposed to be picking up a male to pair to my Humble Bee in a year. I'm just really torn as to what to do with her now. Keep her for 2 years and enjoy her or see if I can't parlay her into something that fits my plans?

Hmm, personally I would sell her if she did not fit into any of my plans. Not only do you still have to find a male for your honey bee but now you have to find a male for your black pastel ghost pinstripe. And that is also a lot of wasted food for something you might not even want. It is just a thought though. She is very pretty on the other hand and only you could decide what you truly want to do with her. You could sell her for the exact same small price and not lose any money or sell her for a bit more and make a profit or not sell her at all and see what you can do with her.

I personnally would keep her as a pet or if you really want to breed see when you do get a male for your bee to have the offsprings breed with her? Its a long time from now but would still be interesting.

Nice looking snake! Good luck with whatever you decide to do with her!

Incidentally, I lost out on a beautiful black pastel ghost female at the Pomona reptile show today. I looked at the snake, walked away to think about it for no more than 10 minutes, and went back. The person right in front of me bought it. Would have been fun to eventually pair with my leopard jigsaw.

    I agree with se7en.

Also I would keep her for two reasons.

    1. Her value will only grow as she grows. I don't know what you paid but as a breeding size (or almost) female her price would be higher. Yes that's two years of time and food but that leads to reason 2.

    2. Two years is a long time..but. .You may run across a male for her that you would like better than the combo your humble bee would have made with her if she could have bred. If by two years you don't find anything you want to breed to her, there's reason one.

    I'd keep her as she's a stunner !

Her subtle beauty is rather appealing and if I were a couple of thousand miles closer I'd be making you an offer you couldn't refuse !

Personally I'd keep her. Besides being a good looking snake, three gene females are always valuable as breeders even if they don't currently fit your plans.

Repticon is next weekend in Raleigh. I suppose I can see what I find there then make my decision.

dude aren't u looking for a Black Pastel Champagne? he would make a nice mate for both this Black Pastel Pinstripe Ghost and Tex.

u could make a blue BP - SBP Ghost! and Panda's!

True, but I want to maximize the ghost gene that I already have. Hence the purchase, even though it went a little sideways. I'm only going to have a limited number of animals that I want to breed so I'm being pretty targeted in my plans right now. BELs and Ivories are covered. The Pandas are a go. That's for sure. So Pieds are one of my recessive projects. The ghost gene I love so that's another. I've wanted to work with Champagne on a coupe of fronts so that's a no brainer and a nice crossover for Tex. Too bad I can't use him with my Killer Bee as well. I guess I really don't want to mess with too many Het offspring. I already have a batch of Het Pieds coming (fingers crossed) so I'm wanting visuals on the Ghost side. I'll see what opportunities present at this show this weekend.

This is what I'm leaning towards at this minute. She's a pretty special combo in my opinion. Not Earth shattering, but still very nice. The trick will be finding a 2-3 gene male that compliments both that is not a repeat of genetics I already have in the collection. That Ghost Sterling Spinnerblast just sounded so good.

Almost any hypo male would be a fun cross with both of those girls.
    Fire Hypo or Firefly Hypo
    Mojave Hypo or Lesser Hypo
    GHI Hypo ($$$$)

Since you're into the ivories anyway, maybe a yellow belly hypo with an eye toward stripe hypos in the future...

Sometimes you find just what you were looking for even though you didn't know you were looking for it, if that makes sense. I think she's lovely and you could find a male that works with both. However, if you aren't happy with her, selling is always an option.

I'm open to suggestions as it looks like she's going to be hanging around. I'd like to avoid getting a male that has genes that I already have in the collection. 2 1.0s with Mojave is enough. I did find an Enchi Leopard Ghost and that does sound interesting. I'll see what pops up at Repticon this weekend too.

I think a Lesser Enchi Het Hypo would be interesting. If you can find one.

So you need to find a male to go with the Black Pastel Hypo Pin and add to the mix by the same male complimenting the Humble Bee??
AND not a gene already in your males.......

    Pastel Enchi Ghost
    Cinnamon Ghost
Super Glow (Specter Yellow Belly Ghost)

Yeah. That pretty much sums it up. Ghost was not supposed to be a focus. Just a little something fun while I work out the other projects.

    Dave

EDIT to add....And I'd like 3 genes. :gj:

Apologies in advance if you already have this in your collection; I'm not very familiar with it. I'll cast my vote for something mahogany hypo, if you can find one on the market. I've seen two-gene combos, but not many three-.

Are you saying the black pastel ghost pin was sold as a male and the seller made that error? I was a little confused about that. You found out after the fact that it was female?

Yes. The seller advertised it as a male. I drove 2 hours to get him, but he turned out to be a her when I popped her. The price was incredibly good so I took her anyway, partially because I didn't want to drive another two hours with nothing to show for it. Not at all unhappy about it other than the fact that I now need to try and find a 3 gene 1.0 Ghost something that will compliment both girls while trying not to double down on genetics that I already have.
