Feeding Question
Hey so I have a quick question that I was hoping you could help me with. So I fed my ball python last night around 7:00 pm and I fed her 1 large mouse and she downed it in like 5-10 minutes. So that brings me to my first question, did i not give her a big enough meal?? Second question is could I handle her now since it's been 24 hours? Thanks!
She's 300grams

Re: Feeding Question
And also if I did underfeed her should i wait until sunday (7 days) to feed her a larger meal or should i give her another large mouse tomorrow. thanks.
and if I do need to give her a bigger meal then what should i feed her?
-
At 300 grams she can take a 30-35 gram feeder. I always give mine at least two days after eating before I handle them, even if the feeder was small.

Re: Feeding Question
If you already her this week just wait til next week to feed her a bigger meal. Like BCR, I also wait 48 hours to handle. You want to give your BP time to proerly digest
Also, here's a good chart to follow:

They said it was 300 grams but isn't that large for a baby?? So is it even considered a baby ball if it's that big?

Re: Feeding Question
My baby is only in the 140 gram range (her last empty weigh in was 137 a month ago). She just took an adult mouse for me last week when the hoppers stopped leaving lumps.
I would wait until the following week to feed a larger meal, and I go with the no handling for 48hr procedure as well

I would get a scale and weigh for yourself.
Depending on feeding response and age 300g might not be far off.

300 grams is a juvenile.
If you don't already have a scale, I suggest you get one so you can keep track of her weight. Make sure 5o weigh her after she poops so you record her "empty" weight.

It's not a hatchling or neonate but it's not a year old yet either. So, still a "baby" as opposed to juvenile or adult snake.

Thanks! If I handle my snake for say 30 minutes every day will it stress her too much? She sits in her hide all day on her 90 degree hot spot. Is that normal?? I fed her 2 days ago so yesterday was her "digesting day" could that be why? She literally sat under her hide for 16 hours straight and only poked her little head out once at night. This is the first meal I've fed her. I apologize if this is a stupid question but this is my first ball python so I'm not familiar with their activity.

Normal activity for a ball python is about the same as a pet rock.
They spend most of their time unseen.

This is the reality of owning Ball Pythons. You might see them exploring during the afternoon but other than that, they hide.
In regards to handling, it's hard to put a time on that. I personally don't handle mine very much. I'll take them out to check on them and then put them back. Some people "hang out" with them for extended periods of time. I don't think they enjoy it so I make sure that I limit my personal handling to about 15 minutes if I do take them out. You'll have to figure your own time.
