New computer build finished
Well, been working on a new desktop since August of this year. Working piece by piece until a week ago I picked up the final component needed. A new desk :) still need some extensions for my DVi D cables in order to put my PC on the actual stand I have for it to keep it off the ground. But man do I love this thing.
i7 Devils canyon processor (oc'd to 4.8ghz)
Water cooling on CPU (AIO)
SLI (Dual) Gtx 970 graphics cards (oc'd to 1550 core 8100 memory)
TactX keyboard
Razor Naga chroma mouse
Phantom original case with 7 fans and lighting
HyperXcloud II headset (thanks to an early Christmas present again from my wife!)
Harmon and Kardon Sound Sticks II
Triple 144hz 1080p 3D Asus monitors
24 Gb 2400mhz DDR3L corsair vengeance Pro Ram
512 GB SSD in raid 1
9 TB in barracuda drives from segate

This invoice was 1520 and is only missing the second 970 I already had in my laptop external graphics card box. So including both would put it at 1840. This includes all hard drives and ram. Case and fans. CPU and AIO water cooling. bluray burner and case window. Does not include accent lighting and red wrapped cables.

Hey, nice set up man! Love the backgrounds on the monitors~ Probably costed you an arm and a leg.

Very nice build. I don't game or OC like I used to, but I do chat tech support for Newegg in my downtime, just went through and re-did my main rig because I'm REALLY anal retentive about wiring and dust.

Two arms and one leg :-)
Actually, picked up things piece by piece after I did the base build. It made the cost seem like less over the course of 4 months total. Monitors were the killer part but actually ended up not being too bad. Wife bought the first, I picked up the second used on amazon for a great price, and the third on black friday flash sale on newegg for an even better price than the used!

I thought I knew wire management, till I started working on this rig. I ended up spending around 60 bucks in replacement cables for my modular power supply in order to match the color scheme on my board. Then spent hours carefully running and hiding wires behind the motherboard, and strapping them in. Dust hasn't been a major issue as of yet. I have had to clean the radiator for the water cooler once so far, and my front screens had a bit of dust trapped in them. Cleaned now, and soon the rig will be back up on the stand to get it off the floor.
Also - my new gaming / work laptop is what rekindled my addiction. I had stepped away from PC gaming since about 2012, and focused on Console gaming for ease. When I had to upgrade my laptop, I spent the extra money to get a top tier gaming laptop (Alienware 17R2 w/ 980m graphics / HyperX Ram / i7 / touch screen HD / M2.SSD). And slowly started working on overclocking it. I soon managed to get into the top 3 overclockers in the world (on hwbot.org) with the 4710 i7 I'm running. (Currently that score is holding at number 6 - just checked).

Call of Duty Black ops III in surround :-) just a performance video, NOT a demonstration of me actually playing . . .

I only have 1 970. Why do you have to be such a one upper?

Re: New computer build finished
Nice rig!
I grew up playing unreal, unreal tournament, quake 1-2-3, and the very first pc call of duty's.
Just like you were, I'm on the console gaming side ATM only because it's an AIO package and affordable.
But I do forsee getting back into pc gaming and or checking out the new steam rigs. Can't beat the accuracy of keyboard + mouse.
Great job on the OC!

Re: New computer build finished
Thanks. Yeah the steam machines have some potential. But building yourself will always be cheaper. And more personal. You'll use it with pride and know the ins and outs of it. Can't encourage it enough for anyone wanting to get into PC gaming. Just finished wire management yesterday and accent lighting on the desk. Lots of work has gone into everything but I am fully satisfied

So I decided to rebuild the interior into a new case. One with a full window. Less fans. A deeper back. And better cable management. I went with the enthoo pro M acrylic for the full glass front. Running he LEDs were a lot more of a pain and the water pump had to be mounted in reverse for my particular build but man! It's near perfection. Passion put into anything makes it better. Spent 5 hours last night with my wife helping on and off to get it to this point.

I'm a console gamer.... I have xbox one, and the alienware steambox.

Re: New computer build finished
Buy your machine piece by piece and form it as time goes. It's worth it. Just buy high end parts so you know you're set for the long haul. I'm debating on ripping out the power supply tonight to replace with a gold rated instead of bronze. But my voltages seem to be steady again. So guess it'll go untouched for hopefully a few months. . .
Alienware steamboxs are cool. They aren't the highest end rigs but they aren't made to be. They are a great way to transition from console to PC or at least have the option to run PC games with better than console settings. I've used Alienware for years now. Still have two laptops. One From 2011 that my wife uses now and my current from 2015 17R2 i7

Keeping it clean and still optimizing. Today this system ranked the highest scoring PC built around an LGA1150 platform with SLI 970 GPU!

Ok new keyboard and mouse to get that quality game stepped up a ton... More wire cleanup and other stuff. I spend too much time cleaning this with the cats running all around with it!
Maybe I can finally make an updated retic collection video now :-O

Jesus.. that is some epic stuff. I prefer my console, though, as the only computer game I play is the Sims.[emoji14]Maybe I'd play more PC games if it wasn't do expensive to get a good gaming computer... you wouldn't happen to know of a cheap laptop that runs games well, would you? 😃

You can build a desktop for about the same price as a new console that plays better than a console if you time sales and aren't too picky about monitor refresh rates and such as that will drive the price up.
I use an Alienware 17r2 for gaming laptop but it's not cheap lol half the cost of my entire build you see here to be honest. eBay has some older but very formidable gaming laptops from Alienware for cheap. Check out the 14r2 I gave my wife my old one from 2011 and it still handles modern games decently with its 900p screen. It may be on eBay soon though as she wants to go back to having a MacBook .

Those prices make me cringe. >.< Yikes!
I wouldn't know the first thing about building something like that. It looks like a really interesting project, though. Maybe one day!

It's all about buying in piece by piece and every piece buying with a purpose toward a final goal. Start cheap and add to it as you go.

Changed the ultra wide on top to a 2k (1440p) 27" 144hz 8 bit TN panel couple days ago. Cleaned things up and ran the Xbox one to the desk:)

Updated again. My wife decided the living room was looking too much like NASA so while the game room is updated I decided to clean up the build. Thanks to my new friend from Craig's list he was looking for a new triple setup with 144hz and I was looking for higher resolution without compromise, so we did a trade favorable to both and I am now rocking two ROG Swift stacked for my primary and focus displays. And it had been a great refresh to the build!

I actually built a gaming PC as well, and at some point last year I changed over once skylake was released but prior to this I was running the same devils canyon processor as you.
CPU: i7-6700k
MOBO: ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming Z170
RAM: G.SKILL DDR4 3200 Ripjaws V Series 64GB
GPU: EVGA GTX 980ti Hybrid
Case: Thermaltake Core V71
PSU: EVGA SuperNova 1300 G2 w/ black/red Cable Mod PSU cables to match my ram/mobo colors.
Keyboard: Corsair Gaming K70
Mouse: Razer DeathAdder 3.5G
Drives: 2x 512gb SSD / 2TB 7200RPM HDD
CPU Cooling: EKWB Predator 240mm AIO.
and I don't like gaming on multiple monitors because of reasons I won't state, so I have two monitors. I run an 29" ASUS 2560x1440 as my main and 27" 1920x1080 as my secondary.

Re: New computer build finished
Nice. I almost went with the EK predator but a lot of leak reports kept me away. Too high of a risk. I kept tossing around sky lake as a potential upgrade but thought if I changed I'd just do an extreme chip and do it down the load. Running 5.0ghz is rare and special.

Mine never leak, but they did a complete recall whether yours was leaking or not. If anything got damaged by the leakage they replaced that. EK has top notch customer service. It was their first one so it was bound to have some sort of issue. I just asked for $50 reimbursement as I had to disassemble everything and order new thermal paste. They paypal'd me the $50 without question.
A friend had his GPU get killed by leakage, they covered an exact same card.

That's good to hear and know. Still extremely happy with the swiftech x2 system Prestige was well worth it.

Definitely the best customer service hands down. I looked at the swiftech system but a lot of those other AIO's aren't actually all made in house. I used to run err, Corsair, then I had a run of bad luck with the pumps failing.

Oh to add, I have a gaming laptop as well.
MSI GT72 Dominator Pro-G 034
Specs:
i7-6700HQ
17.3" IPS screen
32GB DDR4 2133
GTX 980m video card
256gb SSD
1TB HDD
The first thing I did when I got it was wipe Windows 10 off and put Windows 7 on, then I spent another 2 hours piecing together drivers. That was fun.
Then I bought a kanguru defender 3000 32gb flash drive which uses 256 AES bit hardware encryption, has remote management system so if it's lost or stolen when it's plugged into the CPU it will automatically get the signal to erase all data.
Then I have a Buffalo 2TB Ministation which uses 256 AES bit encryption again.

Nice! I use an Alienware (Dellware) gaming laptop for on the go. 17R2
17.3" IPS touch FHD
4710HQ (mine is number 3 overclocked on HWbot last time I checked!)
980m
256 m.2 ssd
1tb 2.5" 7200 rpm
