Trying to learn somthing new.

I couple weeks ago my wife authorized me to purchase something new......
My first one was a Brachypelma Albopilosum (Curly Hair Tarantula)

Today I went and picked up two more.
Pterinochilus Murinus (OBT:Orange Baboon Tarantula)
Acanthoscurria Geniculata (Brazilian Whiteknee Tarantula)
These two are in the 1/4 inch range so I do not have any photos of them yet.
I cannot wait to grow them out and see how they look.
The OBTs I have seen on line are beautiful orange.

My wife is not thrilled to have any in the house. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Thinking of trying to find some Black Widows again.
Use to find them all the time growing up.

just come to my storage unit...i dodge death in there 2-3 times a month.

It's been a boom year for widows around here - literally dozens living around my house and outdoor enclosures.

But eep. I would not be thrilled to have spider guys in my house either, but at least tarantulas are fuzzy. LOL

I was encountering at least 12 a night, mostly young ones, around the old apartment. The new apartment, none.

Black Widows as pets?
We used to have so many around here, I could almost SMELL them. Developed something of a 6th sense for when I was about to encounter one. If you want some around the yard, the easiest way is to lay out cinderblocks so the hole faces up/down, and place a semi-shelter over it. Old pallets supporting stacks of firewood work great; one cinderblock supporting each corner. Several months later, you will find a fat healthy widow in every hole.

This cinderblock system was developed because just after we moved here, I found a rattlesnake in the yard. I thought if I got all the fire wood UP, the rattlers would go hide somewhere else. Not sure if that effort was a positive overall.

Just added another OBT
a Heteroscodra Maculata (togo starburst baboon)
and Psalmopoeus Irminia (suntiger)

I really cannot wait for these guys to grow up and get some color on them.
They are slow growers so it will be some time.....

On a side note. My wife has learned to accept them in the house. ;)

Congrats!
They grows faster than lithening :) Thry with Euathlus sp red and Grammistola species if you want to see how slow a T can grow.

and to my surprise, one of my Grey Jumpers has an egg sack going on. Another 2 weeks and I will know if they are viable.

I'm spider phobic... but I think tarantulas are pretty. My ex had some and I kind of miss them, especially the flame leg. My fiance doesn't like spiders and it's an issue I've not pushed.

Eeek! I quite enjoy tarantulas, got a sling of my own in the summer. Funny how I don't mind big, fat hairy tarantulas, yet I freak out when I find a lanky wild spider! Eugh! I guess I'm just strange. Very nice T's.(:

My husband is terrified of spiders hee hee and so am i. I like the webs they make though. Good luck with the breeding.
