Our 2016 Season starts
Well, I had to wait a bit to start my pairings this year as a couple of our females just dropped eggs in July and I wanted to allow them plenty of recovery time. The other is two of the males we are hoping to pair are just around the 700 gram mark. The first is a Leopard Pin that I picked up from Jon Courtney at Cold Blooded Addiction. In fact this little guy is on Jon's site when he was an even littler guy. So far he seems to have the all the social skills of a home schooled child with an overly protective mother. I haven't seen any locks yet. I am pairing him with our Pastave who just hit size this year. Here are pics of him and her.

Now my other boy is a Lesser het Hypo that I picked up from Bill Herbst at 46and2 Reptiles and he has all the manners of a Public School kid from a broken home. I just put them together last night and it looks as if he figured it out just fine. He is paired with my big Enchi Hypo girl and they both have such clean patterns, I really think they may produce some beautiful hatchlings.

I am keeping it rather small this year (only two or three clutches) and my hope was for the Leopard Pin to be a part of two different pairings. However, we all know how plans can go. I will keep trying him over the next few weeks and if I don't see anything happening, I may give the Lesser a go with the Pastave for some possible BELs. I'll update this thread as the season progresses. Thanks for looking

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
So freaking true.
that aside, looks like you have some interesting things going on. I look forward to following this.

i turned out just fine! lol. looks like a great start for 2016! ill be checking if plan A holds up or if you end up switching to B. Good luck!

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Well this is always nice to see. This girl is the one paired with the Lesser het Hypo in the photo above. She just laid a 6 egg clutch for me in July and she is already bowl wrapping again.

Thanks for looking.

that's lookin' good! :gj:

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Well I decided to give my little Leopard Pin some more time to mature. I'm sure he will figure it out eventually, but I don't think it's going to be this season.
So it's on to "Plan B".
0.1 Pastave to 1.0 Lesser het Hypo. Come on BELs.
Aren't they a cute couple?

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Your Leopard Pin is around 700g and not breeding? My Super Pastel Mojave Leopard male is around 650g and has only bred with one of my girls just recently! I had to switch him between a lot of females and tried a bunch of other techniques before I saw him lock. I think he may be a one-girlfriend kinda guy
Best of luck to you! Looks like you have some awesome plans.

Thanks. These little guys march to the beat of their own drum, so to speak.
I didn't have a lot of females, only three or four that I planned to breed this year, and I had actually hoped the Leo Pin was going to be ready for two of them. But now that I will have two clutches carrying lesser, I have to think carefully about the next pairings if I decide to do any more. I'm resigned to the idea that this hobby is a marathon, not a sprint
Best of luck to you too.

More like three or four marathons. Hopefully your Leopard Pinstripe will pick up the game soon. He looks great, but BEL are a nice consolation prize. Hope to see you posting pictures of some girls on eggs in the near future.

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Well the plot thickens. That is the male wrapped around the bowl. Clearly something happened as evidenced by the mess. You can see in the previous picture the tub was clean and tidy.
I don't know if she rocked his world or told him "No Means No", with a well placed tail flick. Either way, this female's season is getting more interesting by the day. I mean who knows what to expect? Will I get nothing, a dual sired clutch, or something in between? Isn't this hobby fun?

Oh wow! I wonder what went on in there? Lol will be interesting to see what happens now.

Well now we know. Looks like BELs may be ringing before Christmas time.

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Well I have added another pairing. As I've said previously I was hoping my to breed my Leo Pin to a couple of females this year but he decided he is saving himself for the real thing. Kids these days.
Anyways, after seeing Ax01's thread with her new Fire YB from Eric Alan, I had a thought. I have a nice 0.1 Yellowbelly that I wanted to pair with the Leo Pin, but because he was unwilling, she's just hanging out. I also have a nice 1.0 Fire who threw a couple of good looking babies last year when he was paired with a Vanilla. What if I put them together?
So without further ado, pairing #3 of our season. 0.1 YB X 1.0 Fire.

Eric Alan has really set the bar on this combo, so I just hope I can get close. Stay tuned.
-
that's looking good!
really like the Lesser het Hypo X Enchi Hypo en the Fire X Yellow Belly
-
Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Nice pairings! Best of luck on the fire yellow belly too. I've actually been looking for a fire yellow belly female because they're such a nice combo.
-
Re: Our 2016 Season starts
This will be the last pairing this season. Not as vibrant a combo as some of the others but I thought it would be nice to have a super of each gender if I'm lucky enough to hit them. Pairing #4 is Vanilla X Vanilla.

Nice pairings! Look forward to seeing some cool babies in the near future!

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
I finally have my first Ovy of the season. This season is pretty late. Not really expecting to see the first head sticking out until October.

This girl doesn't appear to be too far behind but still just building.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
How did I miss this thread? I am humbled by all of the kind words and can't wait to see how things continue for you! Good luck!
-
Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Well, I was wrong the last time but not this time. Here is a pic from today and I am certain this is an Ovy. Kind of embarrassed that I was fooled the last time. So this is my first girl to go this year which means I probably won't have anything pipping until October/November. Thanks for looking and I hope everyone elses season is going well.

Whoa! Do we need to have the "don't feed rabbits to your BPs" conversation again? ;)

Might be a small pig. LOL. Looking good. I am sure that girl is feeling absolutely miserable about now.

I know, it's pretty dramatic.

I think she may take exception to being called a small pig. She is just big boned. :)

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
It's like a domino affect. The first one goes and the second soon follows. Here is my second Ovy of the season just a day after the first. However, not nearly as dramatic in size. I still have two more girls that may or may not go for me this year. I will keep you updated as things progress. Thanks again for looking.

I'm not the biggest fan of pinstripe stuff but that leopard gene makes it go a little wacky in a very good way! Awesome animals!

Thanks. I'm exactly the same. Pin didn't do much for me until I saw it with leopard. Can't wait till the boy actually breeds for me. This year was a bust with him but he's putting on size still so next year should be hopeful.

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
I woke up this morning and low and behold, eggs! Last year she laid 6 so I am hoping for at least the same this year. This is the YB X Fire pairing. Come on October.

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Here goes my second girl of the season. Last year she laid 6 eggs. Hopefully she'll give me the same again. I'm excited about this pairing which you can see in the previous posts of this thread, Lesser het Hypo to Enchi Hypo. Thanks for looking.

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Here are the two clutches. The first is the YB to Fire and she laid 5 nice eggs.

The second clutch is the Lesser het Hypo to Enchi Hypo and she gave me 8 huge eggs. The total weight is 958 grams so almost 120 grams per egg. You can really see the difference in size between the two photos based on the tubs being the same size.

Looks like you are off to a good start. How's your Hypo Pied male doing? I hope that Enchi Hypo is in his future!

Thanks Chris. The Hypo Pied is coming along nicely. I just posted an updated pic about a week or so ago here, http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...ight=rlditmars.
He and the Enchi Hypo will definitely be making each other's acquaintance in the future.

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Day 60 and we have our first pipper. Only have two clutches this year. Nothing else went. This was a five egg clutch but one went bad around week 6. Looks to be Fire for sure but we'll have to wait until it crawls out to see if it has YB as well. More pics to follow when they are out.

Hang in there, they're coming. I incubate between 86 and 87 so things happen pretty slowly. Still only have the one pip so far.

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Clutch #1 0.1 YB X 1.0 Fire are all out. Out of 4 eggs we hit two Fire and two Fire YBs. The one Fire YB has so much blushing down its dorsal line it looks like Het Red Axanthic. It's in the top right corner but the cell phone pic does it no justice. I can't wait until they shed so I can get better pictures and determine the gender.
Clutch #2 is also pipping now and I can see that I have hit a couple that are Hypo. I can't see what else they are carrying yet since they are all still hanging tight in their eggs. Just heads or nose tips showing. I will do updates as they crawl out.
Without further ado, clutch #1. Thanks for looking.

Just found this thread, very cool to see the whole process. I'm hoping to breed my first snakes sometime next year. :) congrats on your first clutch, can't wait to see the second! That Enchi Hypo is beautiful.

That one that looks like a red ax is stunning! Love the first clutch. :) Eagerly waiting for the second!

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Well I'm pretty stoked. The first one to crawl out is a looker and I believe is all three, Lesser Enchi Hypo. I have to wait for it to shed but it looks too light to be just het for Hypo. Can't wait to see what else pops out but it will all be gravy after this one. Thanks for looking.

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
Well this clutch just got way more interesting.
I woke up this morning and look what had crawled out. When I picked up the Lesser het hypo, I thought it may have something else at play because I had never seen another that looked quite as nice, and still haven't seen anything similar since. It came from a Lesser to Mimosa pairing and was supposed to be a Lesser het Hypo. So what am I looking at? is that Pastel at play, or Fire, or something else? The baby from the previous picture is in the bottom left. Thanks for looking.

Wow! What a wonderful thread to keep up with! These babies are extraordinary! I am very happy for you, and I can't wait to see the other babies!

This was the clutch that the male Lesser het Hypo came from. Mimosa x Lesser :-)

Re: Our 2016 Season starts
They are all finally out. To say I am thrilled with this clutch is an understatement. However, I am not certain what I have. I see a Normal het, a Lesser het, an Enchi het. The rest I am probably going to need some help with. I will post more pictures after they shed which may help. Thanks for taking a look and I welcome some expert opinions.
