Pics of my first boy! Briskets progression thread
I finally got some clearer pictures of my new Leopard Jigsaw "Brisket".

He wasn't super happy, but I wanted to get some pics of his face/mouth because I noticed some spots on his face that have me a little concerned, but that is for a different thread. This thread will be to document Brisket's progress as he grows and develops. I don't have a weight or anything yet but I will as soon as he poops.

    Brisket
    DOB 11-19-2015
    Male
    Leopard Jigsaw

    Here are the pics!

    Beautiful snake!

Sorry, I have no experience with those spots. However you may want to follow two other current threads with the same issue.

Do you keep him in a rack? I had some snakes show very similar sores on their lower lip, either on one side, or symetrically on both sides. I consulted a veterinarian, and he told me that he saw very similar sores on animals in another collection. He said that the other collection was also kept in tubs in a rack, and that the problem ended up being that there was enough of a gap between the tub and the rack that as the Ball Python tries to explore and escape, it rubs a sore (or two) on the lower lip. When I checked my collection, sure enough, all of the snakes with the sores ended up being active snakes in tubs with a small gap between the top of the tub and the rack. I have shimmed under the front of those tubs and all the sores have healed up.

I have him in a T-8. He was in a Vision rack prior at the breeder. I contacted him and showed him the picture and he said the mark on the front may be a bite from a mouse since he feeds live. That makes the most sense to me since none of his other snakes have ever shown any sign od disease. So I am thinking either a bit or rub. I'll watch it and see how it goes.

He's looking good bro. You're a very proud new parent. I don't think that little sore is anything to worry about. Just keep an eye on it. The only thing i noticed is you had 11/19/15 as his DOB. That would make him a giant hatchling. haha

She is doing fine. It will take some time for her to come around but we are making progress. I think she is still in denial that I have our 3rd snake chosen already. :devilish:

Mike told me he had shipped you another one yesterday. Congrats! I'll be starting a new thread for "Kitty" our GHI Mojave as soon as the photos are done uploading.

Mike has a buddy who is selling some Vision racks. I am tempted to sell the T-8 and get the Vision. But then I'd have to fill it up. ;)

Yes they are related. They're half siblings. Same Daddy different Mommies.

Brisket took his second f/t rat pup Saturday. I wasn't sure he would since he was in the blue. He missed the rat pup a couple times but finally got him and down he went. He didn't eat him backwards this time so I'm sure it was much easier for him.

I came home from work today and found that he had shed for me. It was just about perfect. It looked like a big rolled up condom with just a couple small pieces from around his head. I am pretty happy about that. I'll try to get some fresh pics of him later. He has a big ol' sausage butt right now since he hasn't pee'd or pooped for me yet. Hopefully since he has now shed, he'll take care of business soon.

    :rofl::rofl:

u know sometimes u find it "used." i mean find a shed full of poop. hasn't happened to me yet, but i hear it's common. and it makes clean up easy.

anyway nice first shed! pretty much 1 large piece and nothing stuck. :gj:

I am amazed at this guys feeding response. Whenever I bring the rats in the room, he greets me at the glass like a dog looking for a treat. I thought he was going to come flying out of the cage when I fed him tonight. He struck and snatched the rat from my feeding tongs when it was almost a foot from the enclosure. I have switched from a 7 day feeding cycle to a 5 day feeding cycle and he still seems hungry a few days later. His rats are proper size and weight for him so who knows why he acts so hungry.

Here are are a few pics I snapped today. He is growing nicely and looks great since his shed a couple weeks back.

I I like this last pic as it really shows the different colorations between his aides and the stripe.
