What do you like more? I'm on team Burmese.

Retics. All personal preference. There are ample people who prefer burmese due to their extremely placid demeanor. Very laid back compared to a retic who just wants to go wherever they feel like it. My 14' girl decided after destroying her cage 3 times in one day yesterday, she wanted out of the cage when I was cleaning, so she darted and before I knew it about 6-8' of her were out and nearly gone. keeps you on your toes for sure.

I like looking at pictures of retics, and the posts are always good, but currently have no desire for one.
A burm, someday, would be really nice. I'd have to be on my own, however. A snake that big is just a NO GO for the BF.

You have to be somewhat special to own one of those. I am not that special. :colbert:

I absolutely love retics, they're beautiful, and one of my dream snakes, but I'll always love the burms too because I worked with so many that are just complete puppy dogs.

I don't keep giants but I'd go with Team Burm. I think retics have more morph choices but the I'd take the more mellow temperament of the Burm.

I agree with everything you said!

I go with team burm. I have had both, currently have a burm. It absolutely comes down to personal preference. Both are massive snakes with incredible feeding responses, warranting a high level of care, consideration and experience once they get big. Personally I like how burms interact and move much better than retics. Once adults, a lot of burms I have seen become these big 'dopy' and almost goofy snakes that kind of 'lumber' around. Retics move much quicker and are seemingly decisive and cunning in their actions. Looking into a retics eyes you can almost see them logically working through a situation

That being said I am likely picking up a hatchling albino retic in the upcoming weeks.

I always marveled at both species and longed for the burmese. I have had space issues for years and that is the reason I haven't had either or. Would love to own both really. That day is coming. I do have to work on my hook training and make sure I have one of my relatives close by when I need a hand.

Don't discriminate just because they are viviparous (live bearing). :)

I love all of the Giants. Hard choice.

Team burm. I own two and love them with all of my heart. However eventually i can see myself owning a SD or Dwarf platinum retic forsure. Only because i would admire its beauty and intelligence as an animal and being and would be something different to "play" with every once in a while when the burms are all puckered out and the tic wants to be handled. :):)

It's a tough call. I don't own either now, but would probably opt for a retic if / when the super dwarfs become more widely available, affordable, and breeders have worked out of some the temperament issues by crossing them with dwarfs. I just don't have the space or desire for a larger snake (say, 8' and over), but retics are just gorgeous so if the smaller ones are ever more reliably handle-able, I'd opt for a SD morph of some type. The dwarf Burms are interesting too... and I do like the caramel albino Burms.

I haven't owned a retic yet, but of those I've been around verses the burms I've had, I prefer the burms. Not sure if my perception is really correct, but device seem to have an activity level similar to a corn snake, but with a huge increase in size and intelligence. Guess I'm just a sucker for my big and slightly dumb burms.

The little I've been around burms, they just seem to have good vibes. Even the videos are relaxing.
Retics are more like being in the same room with say, Vladimir Putin. Just a tad intense.

I haven't had a snake yet but ever since I've gotten into snakes and reptiles, I've loved Burmese especially because of how beautiful they are and the time I got to touch a really big beautiful female. I probably won't ever get a big snake but if I did, I'd get a Burmese.

    +1

I've owned giants in the past, but I won't in the future. Retics are beautiful, but burms are far more mellow/predictable

I'm just curious why and what are some of your reasons you won't own any in the future?

They are a lot of snake to house, feed, and handle. Even the big tame puppy dogs are a handful at times. I took a bite from a friends 12' African Rock once too. Big snake bites are no fun. The thrill of owning a serpent that out weighed me was thrilling as a young man. But now just a year and change from 40, I operate on a different set of emotions [emoji12]

    Great minds think alike :)

I've kept both standard Retics and Burms but currently have a stunning Dwarf Hypo Burm . Great display animal - handles like a soft Royal python but is alert and inquisitive (24/7) like Retic .

I missed out on a Super Dwarf Lavender Albino Retic just yesterday ( bargain £250). :(

I have kept both, too. I love the variation in the retics but my heart is with the albino green burms. I had a goldenchild retic and she was gorgeous. (I've had several other retics, the GC was just my favorite.) My favorite of all the snakes I've owned was Kaliya, my albino green. She was so sweet and so pretty. I had to get out of the giants, though, due to back issues. Now I'm back with balls--my very first of all snakes. :) Aditi is becoming my favorite, though. She is super inquisitive, like a retic, gentle like my burms, but at a manage size that won't strain/injure my back. :) She is the best of all three worlds. :)

I love the burmese pythons. Had one for 5 or 6 years before he died suddenly. He was awesome and very puppy dog tame. He would sit in front of the fireplace in the winter or chill under the couch. I would love another at some point if I can find one locally.
