Thoughts and prayers

Hey all

My dad had a really bad fall on the weekend, his blood pressure spiked and dropped in about 10 seconds while he was on a walk, and he lost consciousness. When he woke up (less than 20 seconds later. he wasn't out for long) he had a wicked shiner and his left hand was swelling. At the hospital they found out that he had a concussion as well as a cracked orbital bone and about 5 bones in his wrist and hand that are either broken or in the wrong place, so today he has to have emergency surgery. I'm not so worried about the hand surgery as the "putting a pin in millimeters from his eye and brain" thing. Thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated today.

I'm not a religious person but may whatever forces move us be kind to you and your father I'm hoping for the best for yall!

Thanks everyone. The surgery went well, and he's in the hospital recovering. I'm glad they went in at the time they did, the found microclots in his hand, but they were able to give him a bolus of Heparin to dissolve the clots before they could do extensive damage.

Because of that they're going to keep him in the hospital for a day longer in order to observe and try and make sure nothing happens. Again, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, they are muchly appreciated.

Hey, thanks!

He's doing great. They wanted to do a scan of his hand today to make sure the clots they found during the surgery had broken up and gone away and the results were a very positive yes. He still can't lie on his left hand side for obvious reasons and he hates the painkillers he's on because of how loopy they make him.

But he was with it enough to tell me a dad joke this morning so I think he's going to be fine :rolleyes:
