bp slowing down
I'm pretty sure my girl just started 2 wks ago. I will offer again in 2 wks just to make sure. If she refuses again I will offer again the following month.
She goes on strike every yr from Sept/Oct till Feb/Mar.

Re: bp slowing down
My 2-yr. old male is also playing games, just like last Fall/Winter. He's been eating like a champion since early April, but late last month, he let a thawed small rat sit in the tank for 6 hours before making it disappear. He shed not too long after, and was good to go for the next few weeks/feedings...but last night, after hitting the feeder with a vicious strike, he just let it sit in front of his hide all night long. I removed it, and will let him think things over the next few weeks :juggle:

Yep. It's normal for this time of year, which is why I offer the adults a feeder on a 10-14 day schedule instead of weekly.
The 2015's are still pounding food though.

Re: bp slowing down
Reading this has opened an insight for me I have a Ball that would not eat for 2 months last year and this year in the same time frame. Sounds like yours does the same thing they like us to worry about them lol

My girl has been fasting the past 2 months yet she left me a huge turd a couple days ago which was surprising. I wouldn't worry. I just offer my gal a rat every 3-4 weeks as that's when my boas eat and if the BP doesn't want it, my sunglow gal gladly snaps it up as its way to small for my big BCI girl.

Re: bp slowing down
Mine hasn't eaten since the last week of October!!! I just tried to feed him again today, but to no avail :rage:. Ugh! Can't wait until this fasting thing is over. It makes me uneasy when he doesn't eat. Fortunately, he hasn't lost any significant weight (lost only 5g since October), so that makes up the previous disappointments. I'm even quite perplexed in how he's managed to lose so little!
I will try again in 10 days and hopefully this time he'll eat again :please:

Re: bp slowing down
Out of my bigger snakes all have stopped except my Killer Bee. The 800g and smaller group is still eating though.

I'd wait even longer. If he's been fasting that long, I would try every 2 weeks minimum.

Odd though how last year he was eating for me around this time (February-ish). I'm hoping that he will be eating around the same time again for this year. In the mean time, I suppose waiting every couple weeks or so to feed him won't hurt at this rate, hah.

Re: bp slowing down
4 out of 8 of my adult ball pythons haven't been eating these past 1-2 months. Whether it's breeding or season related I am not sure.

Yeah, and we all know how unpredictable our scaley babies can be.. Definitely something we all worry about, but we really don't need to during the cold months (IMO)... From what I've read and studied, trying to feed more frequently than every 2 weeks during a hunger strike *can* cause stress, which may prolong the strike, although if it's been this long for your baby I don't think it would be terrible... Let us know when he gets his groove back!

Re: bp slowing down
So I tried feeding him again today, after about 4 months of hunger strike. His face was already out and about, so I figured that it was time to try to feed him again. Nope. As soon as I presented the rat in front of him, he quickly went into his hide, as though he was repulsed by my offer! Lol. sigh* I'm a bit disappointed because I just want him to eat already, but I guess eating is just not in his "to-do list" these days :(

Out of curiosity, when they go on a hunger strike every year around the same time, how do they know? Is it because the photo period changes with the season if they're in a room that gets natural light? Is it because they've had ten months (or whatever) of food, so they're ready for a two month break? Do their temps fluctuate over the year for the sake of breeding cycles? Something else?
